Weather Updates East Coast??

guys, you are all in my thoughts. Hope only the best for you all.

To keep the record straignt. George Bush did not cause this.

As difficult as it may seem at the moment, physical possessions can be replaced.

A boat would be a terrible loss. A home much worse. A life...

Just remember that someone somewhere is likely in a much more difficult position.

Good luck to everyone involved.

Wow, tough to read through the post. Sorry to everyone, hope everyone is okay. In regards to the boats, there is nothing you really could do. Hang in there.

At my marina now. What a sight. 90Percent of the boats are destroyed and laying on there hulls ontop of each other. Mine along with only a handful of other boats are still safely on there blocks. I couldn't b happier but very upset to c the rest. For the locals reading tropix and the ajoining bar on nautical mile burned down. Along with many on long beach and the rockaways. Hope everybody did as well as I did .....

So how high did the water get? That is what you were worried about.

I was told the Anchorage yacht club marina. Where I keep my boat burnt down and most boats are gone, I'm stuck working in the city and can't verify this report. A dock neighbor who lives 4 blks away from the marina had to swim out of his second floor window so I'm guessing "Mirage" is no longer with us!!! Hope you guys are all ok and your family's

Holy Sh!t Joe, I hope you are wrong! It would be horrible if this is all true but at least boats can be replaced.

I am really sorry to hear about these situations, at least no one was lost or physically hurt. On a positive note, our marina made it without any major issues last night. I attached some pictures (not sure if I did it right), have to commend the dockmaster and his crew. Still not sure how our boat is, I know it is afloat. Good luck to the rest of you.

Mears Point Marina Storm Update

Tuesday 10/30/12 9:00am:

We ask at this time that all slip holders remain away from the marina as our staff continues inspecting all docks, boats and power receptacles. The danger is too great at this time for anyone other than marina staff to maneuver throughout the marina because of possible loose boards, electric currents, or other unseen hazards beneath the water.

- Main entrance and gates have been blocked to prevent random on lookers coming through marina

- One sailboat tilted to side when wind moved it on stand ( Owner contacted ) No other boats involved

- All buildings are OK

- Some water in Ship Store - Normal

- Minor water intrusion around main building doors due to driving rain

- Some canvas damage. full extent will follow after inspection completed

- Higher than usual water levels expected at next high tide

- Full inspection of docks and boats will resume as soon as water recedes

- Nine marina photos attached

- We will let slip holders know when it is SAFE to walk the piers

- Status report will be sent as soon as inspection is completed

Looks like my best option was staying in the water. Everything seems fine although I can't get to my boat without swimming. If I pulled the boat, chances are it would have gone down or floated away like most of the boats in the yard.

I went through Hurricane Camille in Biloxi, MS in 1969. It was a Category 5 storm and we were without power for over a week. My heart goes out to all of you because I know what cleanup efforts will need to take place. Hang in there guys, it does get better.

We are getting 15's rolling in here but that is not unusual as winter comes around. I can only imagine the feeling going around checking on things. Best of luck with all of you - stay safe!

Any word on Mirage, Joe?? keeping my fingers crossed for you...

Joe,

This is terrible news if it's true. We are all pulling for you.....and everyone else affected by this storm.

Dale

"Debtfinder" weathered the storm well. Others around us, not so much. A marina across the Mystic River had one 40' aft cabin that laid over on the hard. Their sister marina at the mouth of the river looked like a war zone. Boats sunk at the dock, boats on the hard laying on the ground, busted up and in pieces. One was an older SR DA 50' with a hardtop buried in the sand, hull crushed, windows blown out just heart breaking. They had security at the gate and would not allow anyone in. We lost power at home but that's about it. My heart and prayers go out to all of those affected by this storm.
Joe, my heart breaks for you. It's bad enough to experience a loss but being in limbo is quite another. This due to the fact your a first responder putting others needs before yours is amazing and I truly admire your dedication. Your a better man than I, stay safe my friend.

Went down to Marine Max Brick, it's a mess Boats Tossed all over!! My Boat was on the Hard and was Floated off the Cradle and turned 90 degree's. Can't get close to the Boats, Management is keeping people away!!

The pics on land are my marina the rest are random canal areas. All the empty blocks laying on the ground had boats on them last night. 5 boats are missing and about 40-50are laying in the street 3blocks away. Or piled up against the fence.
