Just watching the TV and Gov. Christie just proclaimed a "State of Emergency" for Jersey!! We've got nothing really happening here yet except for some Outer band Clouds!! My Boat has been on the Hard and Shrink Wrapped since the first week of the Month!! How's Down South Doing????
Brother In-Law is a Blow Boater and is on a Mooring behind Britannia YC in Northport Long Island, the YC offered him a Slip and he refused it. He says the Sailboat will do better on a mooring than at the dock in case it Heals Over from the Wind!!

Be rest assured regardless of the situation that all of the media will do everything in their power to make sure you remain afraid, very afraid. Its their business model.

I wish you east coasters the best of luck. Hopefully the storm will make a move to open sea.

There's two storms and they will collide over ny,nj, ct. Someone's gonna get a huge storm surge. Ct is calling for the worst flooding in 30 years. Ny is also calling for 2' of snow with a possible 3-6' of water in lower manhattan subways. All tracks point to sandy hitting land, not going out to sea. My only question is canvas on or off. I'll wait for wind speeds on Monday.

Fire island has to be evacuated by 2 pm tomorrow . I'm getting the generator ready ( just in case)

Purchased some tire wedges to place under trailer tires today. Boat has been winterized and shrink wrapped since start of month. Bracing for the worst here in Jersey.

You Guys & Gals stay SAFE.

I live so far out in Cow Country that I won't see any of it.

We finished up prep work today, 1/2" dock lines all around, ran all my engines for a good hour. Water was above the finger slips and cresting on the top of the walkways this morning. Covered the cockpit and all hatches. Full of fuel and water for extra weight and encase we have to camp out on the girl. Salty Dogs, am I missing anything?

Please stay safe everyone, like Wayne said we are so far north we won't see as much as all of you. Some wind and rain and thats it.

Couldn't find any bottled water in CT. Traffic was nuts. It's going to be interesting.

The only problem Mike's going to have is if they Shut the Subway!! NY water is the Best!!!! Unless he wants to Wash his Truck!!!

Heavy rain, strong winds & now up to 2 feet of snow are in the forecast.

The weather people are getting a little goofy up here with this storm warning. :wow: . :smt021

Its gonna be in the low 50's to mid 60's all week. :smt001

I just got back from removing the canvas and other loose items from my boat and helping others double line their boats, mine is on blocks at Key Harbor Marina in Waretown, NJ which is projected to be directly in the bullseye. I got a bad feeling about this one, they are calling for a 4 to 8 ft storm surge if that happens the boats still in the water will not have enough line and will most like break free and the boats on blocks will begin to float off and begin bouncing around. With all the rain the ground will get saturated and combined with the high winds boats will start falling off their jacks like dominos. What a MESS, I just hope the insurance companies don't balk!

Just be safe....the boat is insured, you're not. Hige tide is at 10ish on the James, I'm gonna go down for one last check before tonight

It Looks Like Jersey!!! After Irene anyone with a Basement flooded... The Fire Department was overwhelmed with Pump-outs!!

Looks like the NY transit system is shutting down at 7PM tonight, including the LI railway. Get where you need to be and hunker down for about 24 hours.

Don

10:15 high tide at Jamestown....
