Can us Lake Erie boaters get some of that water too?

Hang in there guys. It's going to be a wild ride and we are all praying that you come through it unscathed.

For those who have their boats in the water, did you leave your electrical cord plugged in? Never having to face that situation, I would worry about power spikes screwing things up.

We've been on the trailer (at home) for a few weeks but our boat may become home if we loose power! Our portable genny is not big enough to power the house but can power all the systems on the boat like hot water and cooking. The only downfall is no heat! Our house has propane backup for heat but the well is 220 and the water will stop flowing but we have 110 gallons of storage on hand. Looks like PA will be a direct hit also. Some gas stations here are out of gas already....we have about 200 gallons on hand in the boats and cans. Everyone be safe!....Mike.

A recommendation to those in the path of the storm to charge their cell phones. Good luck and stay safe.

Stayed on shore power. I didn't want to worry about the biige pumps draining my batteries. If possibly I will be going back down again at tomorrow's high tide. Only real thing we are worried about is the floating dock coming off it's guild polls, they are only 4' higher than the high tide

Starting to get a little gusty here in the DC area and some light sprinkles falling. I got the boat all ready for it earlier today. My wife just took off on the last flight out of Dulles to LAX, so I'm on my own for the next 4 days. I am going to try to drive down to the marina (16 miles) once each day to check on things. Interesting, the big Sea Ray dealer at Prince William Marina brought over a bunch of their new high dollar Sundancers to ride out the storm in our nice wide slips (theirs are incredibly narrow and we have lots of vacancies). There's a monster motor yacht right at the end of my pier.

Sending you all our best wishes for a safe next couple days... from the Great White North.

Well I hope we all make it through with minimal issues.

The boat is winterized and wrapped on land.

All loose stuff around the house like trash cans, chairs, grill, etc was tied down.

Gutters are cleaned, the generator is ready in the shed, and the gas cans are full.

If the power goes out at least I can keep the sump pump going, the fridge running, a light, and a computer or tv on.

I am worried about a huge 60' tree branch that belongs to the neighbor's tree. It's hanging over the one corner of my house and right over my entire driveway. We don't have street parking, so I'm forced to move the vehicles as far forward as I could. It's hard to tell if the vehicles are out of the danger zone or not. Then on the other corner of my house I have another tree hanging over it. There's not much else I can do but leave it up to the man above.

It should be interesting....

Doug

I think I made the wrong call this time. I'm still in the water. I'm beginning to think my best hope is a total wreck instaed of a musty ol repaired boat. I need a beer.

The storm was hundreds of miles from you when this was posted. Is this something that happens at full moon high tides?

Nope. The storm is currently giving us 40 mph winds in Virginia and high tides 6'+ above normal. Tomorrow as it passes closer, it is supposed to get worse.

You all be careful out there. This looks like a real tough one!

It's not raining on Long Island yet but the street leading to the marina has a foot of water covering it already its a residential street ,If we have 11' surge my boat will float off the stands and come crashing down somewhere? Hope NBOA INS is watching

I just got a text 9pm Sunday from a resident of Waretown, NJ and they said it's already flooding. My boat's up on blocks maybe I should have thrown my anchor out or tied it to a tree when I was there yesterday. I'm laminating my insurance policy tonight.:smt009

Expecting the worst over the next couple of days. It's getting worse by the hour and there's no more room for worse. Sandy hasn't even hit yet and we've already hit the breaking point.

The road to the marina was flooded at high tide this morning. Winds 40mph from the east. With the storm surge and rain, i'm expecting the boats to float off the pilings at some point tomorrow or tues at high tide. We're talking 11' of swing, so it's huge.
