New Swim Platform

I ordered mine towards the end of last season with a matching ss rub rail and they had it built and ready for shipment in less than 4 days. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet after installation, but as far as fit and finish is concerned... I couldn't have hoped for anything better. Here are a few before and after pictures.

Looks great good to hear all the positive feedback, tracking mine across the states is like watching the Santa app!!!!!

I have a simple question. What does everyone do with their original transom ladder? All I can think of is to remove it and fill in the mounting holes with the best color match gelcoat repair patch I can find.

Originally I was just going to leave mine in there ,the new platform will cover the opening, but was convinced to remove it and have the holes professionally glassed over . Mine would flood the ER if they leaked I believe.

Where did the $1,500.00 amount come from?

sorry, $1,000. for some reason i added the "exchange" by accident.

And that math does not compute. Round trip for you would cost an estimated $1400 in fuel and a 100 hours driving???

I've made the drive before from Boston to Awhatukee on the west side of Phoenix. it's about 41hrs behind the wheel each way i get roughly 26mpg on the highway so at 2633 miles each way i would use roughly 100 gallons each way. at approximately $4/gallon.
26 mpg
2600 miles
100 gallons
$4 per gallon
X2

$800 and 5 days.

I would do it just to drive cross country again as it was amazing the last time we did it 3 years ago. also the wife's family has a place out there and we are going in May for 10 days anyway. If only there weren't 4,000 things to do at home. this country is amazingly beautiful especially when you can gradually see the changes along the way.

I figured anything that could haul the Swimplatform at 15 mpg and you are thinking you are going to average 63.4 mph. That's fast. Then you must go back. If one wanted to make a vacation of it that would be different.

So it really isn't much different than I said $200 more in fuel and 82 hours. What can an individual earn in a big week of work?

like watching the Santa app!!!!!

Yup....it is indeed. LOL

These things are big heavy awkward "mothers" to move around....make sure there's help around on arrival day.

it looks like it should have only taken about 22 hours.

Perhaps.....if it was a straight non stop trip "A" to "B".

Mine spent a day or two in Oklahoma.....then another stop in Nebraska I think it was.....then it sat around Detroit a bit. So they obviously make stops enroute to pick up more freight causing little delays along the way.

Has anyone installed davits on their new platform for their dinghy? I almost hate to drill more holes in this beauty for mine.

Im installing my (DOM's davits) on the platform.right now we keep it on the bow and its a bit of a b***h hauling it up there.
im having Dale (Masterfab) fab a new set of brackets for my arms. My old SS one didnt hold up well.

I was just messing with him. I hear you about not wanting to drill holes in it though.

Joe mentioned having clips flush mounted in. That sounds like a great idea. Did you do that Joe?

Greg, although my idea was FANTASTIC !!! Hehe. The platform was fabricated already (in stock) so I couldn't have them "Frenched" in. So I have to go with weaver quick kit .

I just ordered my swim platform last week. Art said that it should be done and shipped in 3 1/2 weeks. Hopefully the snow will start to melt by then so I can get it installed! I went with the lights and cup holders. Getting excited!

Ok, so my platform arrived today. Problem is they can't get it off the truck!!! No one told the driver that they put a crate that is 12' long on his truck and he was to figure out how to get it off. He asked my wife if he should chain the crate to our tree and pull it off the truck? (Really). So it went back to the carriers warehouse. Now I need to rent a trailer and they will load it with their forklift and I'll transport it to the marina, can't imagine who's loading these trucks on the midnight shift

That's ridiculous! I hope they are paying you to pick it up!

Should have had it delivered directly to the marina where they might have a forklift and save the $63.00 home delivery fee??

These shipments are shipped common carrier and receiver is expected to have the needed equipment to unload the shipment. Unless the rules have changed, if you ordered 25 boxes of widgets the driver will bring them to the tailgate, you are supposed to get them from there or pay an inside delivery charge. If too big and heavy for the driver to move the receiver is responsible for unloading. The home deliver fee is for residential delivery not unloading usually.
