First time chiming in...but every weekend we drive nearly 3.5hrs assuming light traffic. It sounds worse than it is. We have a home on the lake where the boat is docked and typically leave on Thursday night or early Friday morning through Sunday. The traffic from the St. Louis area westbound to LOTO can be very hectic, but we avoid that and start with a stress free weekend. We used to weekend on a much smaller Monterey. We're usually so excited to get to the lake that the 3-4hr drive is a non-issue.
For the two of weekending on the old boat worked out well. However, with the number of friends and family that come for weekend visits it was just too cramped. We bought the house on the lake 3 summers ago and it's been great. Usually once every other weekend we'll take a cruise and spend the night on the boat. Unfortunately this means I don't maximize the boats full potential being on a lake. Realistically, a large open bow would suit our needs better and give us more useable space but I can't bring myself to do that.
