How far is the dock where your boat is parked? If we buy im looking at appx 2 hour drive to pt pleasant NJ. Im in NE PA...:smt089

I have the same drive. From a similar place to a similar place.

The real question is what are you doing once you are down there? Is the 240DA is a bit small to live aboard for an entire weekend? And that drive is a bit nasty for a day trip.

In my case, the boat is at a house so I have the comforts of a big TV, big bedroom, and full kitchen once I arrive. It also makes for a good base of operations when doing all the "out of water maintenance" in April/November.

I have a few friends here in NE PA that have boats down in the Annapolis area. That is a 3 to 3.5 hour hike. I don't know how they do it.

4 miles - need to be close for maintenance etc. At end of day, don't want a 2 hr drive home. Move from the poconos to DE

one hour. i would consider going a few years older to get a bigger boat if your thinking of staying on it for the weekend. i know a couple that stays on their 240 for 3 nights every week, but it is just the 2 of them

We're five miles away. Works out well with being dog owners; we can zip home and let them out on the nights we have the family stay on the boat.

We are 27 miles to the marina. It takes about 35 minutes. We stay on the boat almost every weekend from Friday night to Sunday afternoon and the dogs go with us.

We travel just about an hour each way, we go to the boat Friday after work and stay untill Sunday night. We do this with every week, we are a family of 3 with our 7 year old son.

We are 35 minutes away - in my opinion 2 hours is a long stretch - but something you could do and then decide if you are OK with it or not. We go down 1 time during the week to check the boat, re-provision and bring clean clothes back on board. Then, we go down every Friday and stay until Sunday afternoon. Every other weekend, we try to take a trip overnight on Saturday; and, on the off weekends we either stay at the doc or do something away from the boat. The beauty of boating, is most of what you decide to do is "personal preference". So, go ahead and try the 2 hour thing, if your gut tells you it feels good. Like most decisions, there are many "right" ways to do things. You learn as you go!!!

8 miles with call ahead service at the marina:smt038

We are 1 hour door to door. We do go down for the day at times on a Sunday. The 1 hour drive is not bad as it gives all of us time to wind down after a day on the water. Ideally though we go down Sat. and overnight.

That 2 hr drive is one I did as a child with my parents every weekend! We were going down to a house but after a while you get used to it, even the traffic. Just depends how addicted you are to the water I guess!!! The only trouble spot on that 2 hr drive would be if the wife or significant other does not have the addiction to the water then that 2 hr drive is a big deterrent on heading down to the boat.

we are 45 min - and go sometimes through the week but mostly on the weekends. Now that we have the larger boat living there for 3 or 4 days is not a problem. Our dog go to a farm sometimes for the weekend - she loves it there. But sometimes she comes with us.

40 miles....1 hour....and that's as far as I think I'd want to be and still be able to enjoy it. I work near the boat, so sometimes I can slip down during lunch and check on it. Because of the time I get off work, I can just go to the marina and stay on the boat rather than drive home.

I agree with others regarding the size of the boat and the distance. But it's clearly a personal decision. Best of luck on your selection.

Takes me 1-minute. Less than a mile away. Left at the end of my block and first right.

even went there this morning before driving to work just to watch the sunrise.

6 minutes from my driveway to the marina parking lot. With traffic.

35 mins for me door to door. Since im single I typically spend at least 4 nights a week on the boat. Last week i was there 6 days over the 4th of july and 5 days the week before. This week Im on pace for another 5 nights. Its great having a boat that is close enough to commute back and forth to work. If i had A/c i would seriously consider living on board but for now I at least have to take a couple of days off to relax and get some good sleep with the summer heat

We're 150 miles and 2 1/2 hours away from our boat but we make it over almost every weekend. We started out on a 240 the first year but moved up to the 280 because the 240 was just too cramped even for the two of us. Unlike some of our dock neighbors that live close by and have to run home for every little thing, our weekends are more of a mini vacation and seem more relaxing. Besides as my avatare shows, the view is worth it!

For part of the family, 385 miles.
For the other part of the family, a little over 1,000.

I miss the days when it was 15 minutes away, but this boat and the 1000 islands are hard to beat. Obviously, we operate in "blocks" of time...
