Had your Magma Newport for a while? What do you think about it now?

Hope everyone likes burnt on the outside raw in the middle.

OK... I'll cook some burgers tonight...

Why is a fresh piece of fish with salt/pepper and a salad "gourmet food" and a Bubba Burger that is processed beyond recognition "OK"?

You guys have all been brainwashed... fresh stuff on the grill is easier and better for you. Not like there is some sort of strange cream/cheese sauce on the stuff.... That dinner was about 300 calories... Yeah.. I'm trying to lose weight... but I keep finding it.

I'm all for seared tuna, just not every meal.

I know, do a typical day. Cook eggs and bacon in the morning. Afternoon some cheese burgers. The evening, some pork chops with grilled corn on the cob and baked potatoes.

That's like a "double wide"
Well I haven't shot beer out of my nose in a long time. Thanks Gary. I'm still sticking with my Magma. I'm easy to please. But I'll add that looking at the "infared" model it sure does look like my plain "regular" model.

That's a great idea, I should mount one on the dinghy.

OK... so here's to all you Lipton soup loving crock pot cooks who think this Solaire is bad...

Dinner...

Soaked some fresh corn in some water:

And then pulled out my SUPER SECRET INGREDIENTS for dinner:

Yeah... "gourmet" food... fresh hamburger (1/3 pound patties), fresh buns, mushrooms, swiss cheese and a big tomato. That's real hard to find... i.e. "gourmet"

Threw the corn on the Solaire (low heat):

After about 20 minutes and a little olive oil, salt/pepper on it:

On with the burger at high heat (9 billion degrees):

Sauteed some mushrooms:

OK... that's not on the grill... but hey..

One perfect burger (note the grilled bun) and corn:

and if you cut it open, it's not "raw"...

So there... that was one of the best damn burgers I've had... a little crusty on the outside with grill marks and very juicy inside... the corn was perfect...

Magma sucks.

Stick with your crock pot and Bubba Burgers.

Stay tuned for a turtle dinner over the weekend, cooked on an old old magma, without the help of another grill, and it will be on a boat, in a rod holder, with a 1lb propane gas can, pig dog at my side, admiral telling me i'm doing it all wrong. Aaannnddd, eggs and bacon in the morning.

So you are going to throw out my whole post because of the mushrooms...

Why cook eggs on a grill?! That's what the stove is for!

That 450 is big enough to have a standup humidor, wine cellar, and commercial kitchen!

.......ok, I'm going to grill some salmon on cedar plank next time we're out and take pics. I'm thinking that Solaire may be too hot to do that?

Gary is the "low" setting still pretty hot?

Btw, great writeup Gary. Burger looked good.

ya know... I got some of those cedar planks for cooking salmon for my birthday... I'll have to try that... I think it work fine on low... we'll see.

I want to see Mike's dueling Magma breakfast.

No way am I ever cooking bacon in the cabin again.

You two should make cookbooks.

One for the Solaire, one for the Magma.
