Ban my semi-automatic weapon--NOT LIKELY

So your agreeing with me. You guys love shooting each other - no argument there.
Statistics can be quoted all day long. Our two countries can be compared in the same manner. The fact is responsible people act responsibly and irresponsible people act irresponsibly. There is nowhere that a gun, without an out side force being acted upon it, has fired itself. The outcome of a shooting is determined by who activated the pull of the trigger, a responsible person or an irresponsible person and the purpose behind the action.

I do keep a handgun on the boat at all times. I didn't always, but several years back I was out about six miles off shore with my family. We were having fun swim..... The anchor was down, so I would not have been able to make an escape if needed, other than to perhaps ram their boat, a 18 runabout.)..... So now I am armed at all times on the Great Lakes, because you just never know what kind of wingnut is going to come looking for trouble someday.

You were anchored 6 miles out? Wow. Do you carry 2,100 feet of rode?

well last week a lady ran down a bunch of bystanders on purpose in Las Vegas. last night my step-son was involved in a high speed police chase where the suspect tried to ram 2 police cars at about 100MPH. the car wasn't the guilty party. should we outlaw cars?

If they did away with the sidewalks in LV, this never would have happened.....outlaw sidewalks. Maybe we should remove the right to assemble from the Constitution as well. If the people that were run down were not all together, the casualty count would have been a lot lower.

After the Virginia AG decided to revoke reciprocity for CCW holders from 25 states as a payback to campaign contributions from Mike Bloomberg to promote gun control (confiscation actually), I just became a lifetime NRA member. Thanks Mr. Bloomberg, your actions got me off the dime to do something I have been thinking about for years.

Just this week and effective 2/1. If you drive through Virginia or spend any time in the state, check and see that your CCW is not from one of the 25 states that they no longer recognize. This action was done as payback to Mike Bloomberg for support of political candidates that support his agenda on gun control. It's going to get ugly as many of the states effected will stop recognizing a VA CCW. Sad day for Virginia, but elections have consequences and you get what you vote for. This will teach people to get out and vote.

That election was bought and paid for by outsiders supporting outsider clintonite candidates. It was a complete farce much like our current chief executive.

Agree completely, however, the people with the most votes won....shame on the uninterested or those "making a statement by not voting". You get what you vote for.....maybe we will wake up next time.

as a constable i was the only law enforcement official permitted at the polls on election day. a fellow constable had a bus pull up to his polling site that came from the projects. apparently the democrats went around and had them register to vote then bussed them to the polling sites. this was back when Obama ran the first time

Well, Odumma, I mean Obama cried during his speech on guns today. So I guess I'm ok with giving up my 2nd amendment right now. I'll just put my legally obtained firearms on the front porch for him to pick up.

Those were tears of joy. God help us.

If HE wants them then HE can come get them! And when HE disarms all of the thugs I will be happy to hand them all to him, at the appraised value. I will even throw in the magazines. Until then We the People will be followed on this land and at my home and shop.

He has done this without anyone's approval but his and his friends. Where was anyone's representative? His actions will make things worse. Our RIGHTS to proper representation went straight out the window today. I wonder what our forefathers would think of us now, all those men and women that have died, all of those who fought for our independence and gave us our rights.

All of that said I still haven't seen the full speech, just what the news groups have been reporting

Let me ask this. A great deal of us here were or still are members of our military. How do you feel about all this? Not the President but of his actions today.

When you think you can walk on water you get the notion you can do anything you want with the stroke of a pen.

It's just going to end up being more laws that are not enforced.

That's the easy way out. You know full well the government, whether it be a democrat or republican in office could not and would not try and take our guns.
Zorba - you should research the "temporary" taxation imposed by FDR and how it clawed it's way as a permanent and intrusively growing malignancy in our society; and that's just one simple example. The point is and what we should be cautious of, is leeway turns into a highway.

That is the exact problem with "common Sense" gun laws. How do we effect reasonable restrictions without blowing holes in the second amendment. If we "the people" allow the President (Or any of our politicians)to weaken the second amendment with a pen stroke, the ramifications run deep. Changes in the Constitution, should be done carefully and with full diligence to possible damages to our freedom. The Constitution is not for limiting individual freedoms, it is for limiting the governments control over our lives. It is ridiculous that our leaders cannot figure out common sense gun reform while shoring up our right to bear arms, and the lack of participation from the right is embarrassing. However, stupidity on the 'right' does NOT justify stupidity on the 'left'. God help us if THAT becomes an accepted argument!!!

The president says its just a piece of paper.

Remember also that a criminal and sick society without firearms will use stones for the same. We should look deep into the up-bringing of our young to find solutions; something our current government refuses to consider.
