When I disconnected the lower shift cable on my 1976 Sea ray, I pushed the cable all the way in and it locked in Foward, as it is supposed to. When I pull it all of the way out, it will spin freely and will not lock in reverse. Any suggestions, maybe the wrong cable? Thanks

I am wanting to replace my throttle control lever on my 76 Sea Ray. It is the original, and the button is sticking all of the time, very hard to manouver. Does anyone know what shift lever on the market is compatable?
Thanks
I have plenty of hot water coming out of the exhaust ports on the stern drive, however I pulled the hoses off of the exhaust risers. One of them I can blow air through, the other I can not. Does this indicate it might be clogged? The engine runs between 180 and 200 when high rpms
When the stern drive is in forward gear, the shift lever is supposed to be straight ahead 12 oclock, with neutral at 11 oclock and reverse at 10Oclock. That is the way the lower unit is, however with the lower unit removed, the upper shift lever in the upper housing will go from 1 oclock for...
I have a boat I purchased a few months ago, getting ready to put it in the water. I ran it with the hose attatched. When I put it in reverse, the propeller barely moved. Is it supposed to do that, or does reverse not work until it is in the water. New to boating
My stern drive trims down all of the way, but when you hit the trim up button, the motor just spins and the stern drive will not come up. The oil is full. Any ideas?
I was doing some research, and my 1976 Sea Ray has the trim cylinders part number 98704-1 and it should be 45706A14. I believe a previous owner replaced the original cylinders with cylinders from a newer model. Will this cause problems with the pump?
thanks
I am still new to boats. On my 1976 Sea ray, at the step down into the cuddy cabin is what t appears to be some sort of black drain hole. Water is laying in the step area and will not drain out. Does anyone know what I need to do?
Thank you for your assistance
I have a 1976 Sea Ray with mercruiser 233 HP out drive. The trim cylinders I have are part numbers 98074 and 98075.
Do you know if the trim cylinder of a 1990 Sea Ray part numbers 14034 and 14035 are compatable? I found a guy on ebay selling them and I need to make sure they will fit...
Have a stupid question, extremely new to boats. on the right side of the steering wheen is the throttle lever. it has three positions, forward, neutral, and reverse. there is a small button next to it to lock the lever into each position. Is this the lever to put it into gear, or is there...
My outdrive will tilt all of the way up, but it will only go half way down without being forced down with heavy weight?
Anyone have any ideas?
Also, I connected the waterhose to the engine and ran it. As I increased the throttle, the propeller did not go any faster
Hi I am extremely new to boats. I purchased a 1976 Sea Ray SRV 220. I have been searching for an owners manual, but have had no luck. I am taking a boaters safety course to get educated. The question I have, is how do you get the stern drive/propellar to go vertical into the water. It is...
