Weather Updates East Coast??

Sorry for joe and others who may have lost there boats in this, my boat survived the storm (in the water) with zero damage, but many others nearby did not far as well...

These pictures are truly unbelievable. Our world continues to change around us at a frightening pace. On the other side, I'm glad everyone is ok. Boats can be replace, lives cannot.

Keeping our fingers crossed for everyone...

Mark

Carter the House is Fine as I listened to a couple of "Snipe" friends and bought a Gene!! The boat on the other hand has been bounced around but that's what we pay Insurance for!! Thanks for asking!!!!!!! Have you gotten "One Sweet Day" down South Yet??

Joe - sorry to hear about "Mirage".

Marshall - "One Sweet Day" is spending the night in Wytheville, VA tonight - the driver called this evening. They expect to be in Chattanooga by 1400 tomorrow. I still don't have any word of what Good Luck Cove Marina looks like in Toms River, but I'm convinced she wouldn't have made it if the driver had not made an extraordinary effort to go out of his way and get her off of the blocks and on the trailer last Friday. She spent 5 days between the Delaware Bridge and Havre de Grace due to the road closures and Sandy, so I'll find out how water tight her hatches and fittings are when we splash her tomorrow!

It does seem totally random. My boat is fine, but 100 yards away... not so good. I've been driving all over today from CT to Long Island and there's so much damage it's just amazing. I've seen 20 boats in someones front yard, trees splitting a house in half, so many downed power lines... It's going to take a long long time to rebuild the NE. Amazed and grateful that more people didn't lose their lives.

I want to echo those comments. The destruction is amazing and to think that the loss of life was kept to a minimum is fortunate. I saw the NJ shoreline homes and I was amazed at the total destruction of whole neighborhoods. I imagine that all areas that can will send help to get things back up and going. Good luck to all affected by this storm. I imagine that those that tried to downplay this storm and say how the media was building it up are eating crow tonight!

Best of luck to you all. Amazing and terrible storm.

As I read though this I can really understand how some of you feel right now. I know everyone always says the boats and be replaced, lives cannot. Very true statement, but it would not make me feel any better if it were my boat. Having visited many of the areas in the past that were in the direct path of this thing I can only image how much damage a storm like this would cause.

We took a glancing blow down here in Maryland, but being on the opposite side of the storm when it hit land saved us from the bigger storm surge. I was waked up at 4 am but the sounds of the marina crew moving boats on the hard deck to another area further back as the tide came in. My boat was in the water and safe but I went over to the marina to make sure. We only had one boat fall of the stands here, and some had some minor canvas damage, but nothing like you guys north of us got. Still without power, but that is a minor inconvenience compared to others. Best of luck to everyone up north!

Wow...just sureal...

After getting past the human side of this, looking at all those pix of boats, it strikes me odd the shear randomness of it all. In the pix here and on TV, there are boats of all sizes sunk, damaged, tossed around like a cork, then there are neighboring boats of all sizes, apparently pristine, sitting in their slips waiting for someone to take the helm.

Just crazy...

Best wishes to you all. I still have not been able to find out the status of my boat, as I left her on my trailer in Joppa, MD after a recent trip to Baltimore. Certainly not in the NJ/NY center of it all, but none the less concerned for her.

God speed to all,

Power has been out down here Chuck, so this morning is the first I have gotten online since the storm. Your boat is fine, no damage at all. We did have a very high tide, I stayed in the water, which was a good move. One boat here fell off the stands, other than that some minor canvas damage on a few.

Thanks for the watchful eye and update Bill. Great to have our CSR friends out there for us. Best boating community period.

Good luck getting things back to "normal".

The video & pictures of the Jersey Shore and New York are incredible. My thoughts & prayers to all those affected. Probably cold comfort, but surviving it with unharmed family & friends is most important, right? And stay safe during the clean-up!!!! Thanks to all who posted those amazing marina pictures.

We had a lot of heavy rain & wind here, but we had no damage & didn't lose power. The storm surge Tuesday morning peaked when it just covered the top of the pier. The storm could have easily hit us hard down here instead.

Another day begins, just wanted to drop a note to all of you out on the east coast, You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Ditto. You guys are not alone out there. Lots of friends with you in spirit.

As I sit here on the West coast I feel so helpless. I'd like to be out there helping with the cleanup but there's just no way. My heart goes out to all of you...those who survived with little or no damage as well as those who lost possessions. The cleanup starts now and will run for weeks, but it will eventually be cleaned up, boats will be repaired, and things will settle down to normal again. Hang in there.

I tried calling & emailing my buddy Capt.Wally, He lives in Leonardo NJ. No answer in 2 days.

Shark in the streets in Brigantine!

Watch out!

Our whole town is without power since Monday about 6pm. We don't expect to have it back for at least a week. Just like most of you, I've been running around between work, boat and the house with limited power and internet service.

The house did fine due to the fact that just couple of weeks prior the storm we heavily trimmed most of the trees. My boat looks to be fine but I was unable to get on it since marina is flooded. I needed a dinghy to get to it, which I didn't bring with me. Monday night right before the storm hit I took a last drive to the boat and secured everything the best I could. The boat was also moved to a more protected slip. We have a lot of boats remained in water since marina couldn't keep up with demand of hauling out everyone. But, from preliminary look the marina and most of the boats did ok. I didn't have chance to check on the boat after the last night's high tide. As long as the water didn't rise any more than it did during the storm I should be ok.

I'm very sorry to hear about all the loss our friends had. Joe, Marshal, Ron and others I really hope that the pictures and stories from 3rd parties present a lot more than reality will do when you'll finally get to your boats. But in the end we all do the best we can at the circumstances. Worst case scenario we'll have to go to insurance for reimbursement.

God help us all to recover quickly from this tragedy.

Well I guess us Northeasterners now know what it's like to Live in and Boat in Florida!!!

We've been lucky to avoid a 13' strom surge. If we ever get that we will all be under water. I'm less than 9' above sea level. I wish you guys the best up there. It's never easy after a strom like that but with the help of neighbors and friends you will be back to normal in no time.

I just sent an email to my first cousin who is the Legislative Operations Manager for the Jersey Coast Anglers Association down there. I hope he is safe.

Please stay safe
