Wakeboarding threag

The whole wake board thing reminds me of the wooden trick skies from Cypress Gardens we had as kids many years ago. Even had one that you could slalom on when you dropped the other. The wake boards seems to give you more control on cutting since the trick skies did not have skegs. Yes the old round boards were fun, hey we even skied on big old 8' surf boards.
We had a pair of those too! They were fun! We had a pair of wooden Cypress skis with skegs that were entry level skis as well that we taught newbies on. The nice thing about the entry level skis, were, they were so wide, it was easy for kids to get up with them. Then, we had some sort(I forget the name) of slalom ski that had a concave bottom for better control supposedly, with a larger than normal skeg. We didn't go on any surf boards, but it seems like we tried everything else.

The faceplants on a wakeboard are much more forgiving than on snow...that is for sure!

Try it...really. I forgot how much I loved doing this sport until after 15 years I decided to buy a boat to do it again. Everyday I contemplate going out.

I couldn't agree more. Tis why I like wakeboarding 100 times better than snowboarding...

Some new videos up. Although not wakeboarding, check out my bud Al's kneeboarding run. Awesome tricks he pulls off: barrel rolls and slides. Good stuff (and if your bandwith can handle it, always choose "watch in high quality". THis is to the right and below the video) You can also see at the end of the video me going flying with the camera when Joe (took his boat out) stops short when Al is done:

Re: Wakeboarding behind a 280DA

I'll tell you one thing... the hole behind the boat looks 10 times bigger from the wakeboard than from the cockpit...

And, of course, we burned up quite a bit of gas having this fun...

Any one else board behind a 280DA? Or bigger?
Great! Thanks for sharing. That looked like fun going behind the big boat. Im wondering if you screwed with the trim a bit that you could get a crisper wake? Did you try?

It always seems that way...when you're on the board, the wake looks so frikkin wide!

Bill,
nice video. And Rush no less:thumbsup:.
Thanks!

Rush is one of my top 10 of all time all of the time. Best drummer and bass player in this genre of music. Good to see another fan.:smt038

I didn't mess with the trim - as this was the first time we tried behind the 280DA. I had the tabs in the full down position, and the engines trimmed all the way down too.

It was very bumpy when directly behind the white prop wash, but very smooth on both sides of the wake.

Lots of fun - can't wait to try again... I'll play with the tabs and trim next time... didn't get it on video, but we did have a few good jumps - the wake must have been 2 feet high at the curl...

RE: Rush - nice to see some fans from the USA - Geddy, Neil, and Alex are indeed the greatest.

It is set to private...cant view

Can you change to public viewing?

Im looking forward to it!

ANyway, went out twice in the last few days. First with my wife on Thursday, just her and I. She did incredible...actually carved and edged well and went outside the wake smoothly. We went for about 3 hours until dark. I practiced a lot of slides and can now backslide very well. It was fun just hanging with Amy, and at the end of the night, we floated around with a beer each sitting on the back bench seat.

Then, yesterday me, Slacker (matt) and Brian went out for a few hours until dark and rotated the ride. I was getting some great air, and nailed a good grab. I also found out I am the king of recovery. Matt has a new board and did awesome. Brian is improving steadily and actually crossed both wakes smoothly.

Only a few more weeks! Planning on going again this week, definitely a couple of times over the weekend and then more. Ill have some new vids in the next week or two when we go out again and someone feels like taping.

Sounds like you've been having alot of fun, and progressing very well with your skills Bill  Cant wait to see the videos, enjoy watching them, especially since I cant board right now. We took the boat out this weekend and my wife finally got up on the board, but she didnt stay up long. Shes determined now :smt001

Very cool video put your boat information in your signature so we know what kind of boat you were being pulled from. Again nice job on the video.

I will have to get a camera out in the boat. There wasn't any video rolling when I sliced my head open last week on the kneeboard...that would have been cool. Stitches are out now and hoping to get out this weekend.

That kneeboard video you posted was great. There is a guy in my group trying to get the barrel roll but hasn't quite gotten there yet. I sent him the link. Who knows, with the slo-mo he might learn something and give it another shot.

I just got back in. Its COLD! Air 50, Water 60. My hands froze. This weather sucks.
I'm uploading a wakeboard video. Tonight was my first time on a wakeboard since the 4th of july. I was a little rusty......

I added the info to my sig, I hope it works.
I ride behind a 06' 175 sport.

Wake,
What time is it when you are boarding? That water looks like glass.
