Just like the deer crossing signs, why don't they cross on roads that are not heavily traveled!

Don't blame the fisherman, blame the fish. If the fish weren't there the fisherman wouldn't be there either!
This one generates questions? Why didn't you see the ragboat sooner as he approached to cross the channel, it doesn't sound as if he could have been blocked by the boat ahead of you all the time:huh: When the boat ahead of you passed the ragboat you say there he was, 100' away, perhaps you were following too close...especially considering it was a 'first time' through the 'narrow' channel. Maybe 25 knots wasn't a prudent speed for you. I know how those sailboats are, but he was the least maneuverable vessel...it's you the responsibility ultimately falls on...like it or not.My giving the gift of wake story was following a couple of fellow CSR members through the narrow Barnegat Bay channel near low tide. First time there for me. We were on plane when suddenly a 12ft sailboat emerged, previously hidden behind the boat in front of me.
He was 100 feet away, tops, and crossing the channel between two power boats going 25knots. Because hell, he's under sail and anyone else can just get out of his way.
There was no time to stop. I jumped out of the channel to go around the ....... Luckily just churned mud, no rocks. I failed to swamp him, barely.
As I got back in the channel he gave me the finger despite risking my family and boat to keep him alive. Because I was obviously in the wrong for failing to yield to a sailboat. He was completely clueless about the trumping requirements to operate in a safe manner or not interfere with a larger vessel with limited maneuverability operating in a narrow channel.

I suppose it could be debated but it doesn't seem 'oooh, that guys wake is so big I might spill my beer' would be a legit reason to be firing off flare guns at other boats.

To answer your question regarding the fenders, if you buy Taylor Made, I think they will replace them for free at West Marine.
Unrelated, but a positive WM experience. They did replace 2 TaylorMade fenders for me that leaked air, and 1 that was burst. No questions asked.
I tried and they asked for a receipt. Of course I did not have one with me... no Luck, not even Andrew!Unrelated, but a positive WM experience. They did replace 2 TaylorMade fenders for me that leaked air, and 1 that was burst. No questions asked.
