Unfortunate that a CSR member is so Clueless!

I guess the next question would be, was the owner of the other boat at the helm, or did he turn the wheel over to someone else while he went below? I'm just questioning, I'm not saying this Captain was in the right but if the area isn't marked.

As many other members have advised me in the past each Captain is responsible for any damage done by his boats wake, even in an area illegally marked, or unmarked zone.

I would also add that if that area has that much traffic and has that many boats docking in the area that maybe the restaurant should apply to the township and CG to turn the area to a Marked No Wake zone

I think you are referring to two separate subjects. The boat on Saturday was on plane going past the guest dock. The restaurant is up the river a bit and boats slow to go past the restaurant docks, right before the marina, don't know that they need to slow down well before going past the restaurant since the first dock is at 90 degrees to the boat traffic with no breakwater. The attached aerial image shows the marina. The yellow line was the boat coming right to left Saturday. The red arrow shows the direction from my marina to this one. The circle is the restaurant. You can see how the first sheds can get hammered by boats slowing down right at the restaurant docks. The guest dock is the very long dock on the outside that acts as sort of a barrier (that's why it is referred to as the attenuator). We basically had that dock full of boats this past weekend. You can see how exposed it is to large wakes. I also attached a couple of photos from the dock Saturday AM.

Ways, way too much information. This thread should have never been opened to begin with. Can we just let it fade away.

Well the Coast guard has been told (done nothing) An also FL fish and game has also been told, Again nothing. So took care of it and at no time was anybody in danger thank you.

Hee's a gamblin man.

I do the same sort of thing sometimes, but its in DC traffic.

Instead of a flare I use whatever is handy.

On the water I try to be more chill.

And in my defense, I'm a plus 5 driver. I drive about 50,000 miles a year in city traffic. I'm smart enough not to get caught.

Bill, I know you don't like this sort of thing but you don't have to read it. I mean no disrespect, just saying.

Hi, my name is mike. I like to wake boats, especially fishing boats.

I'm not a fisherman. I get pissed when fisherman anchor their boats in the dead center of the navigable channel to fish. When they do, I seldom slow down for them. (Unless I see kids on the boat). There's lots of other places to fish besides the center of the channel. Please go to one of those places. Ok. My confession is over.

Well maybe they don't realize you own the water. If they did maybe they would be more accommodating. They shouldn't be anchored in the middle but you shouldn't be an A S S and cause more problem. Why not be a MAN and let it go.

Point taken, Tom. Just gets frustrating sometimes.

My giving the gift of wake story was following a couple of fellow CSR members through the narrow Barnegat Bay channel near low tide. First time there for me. We were on plane when suddenly a 12ft sailboat emerged, previously hidden behind the boat in front of me.

He was 100 feet away, tops, and crossing the channel between two power boats going 25knots. Because hell, he's under sail and anyone else can just get out of his way.

There was no time to stop. I jumped out of the channel to go around the ....... Luckily just churned mud, no rocks. I failed to swamp him, barely.

As I got back in the channel he gave me the finger despite risking my family and boat to keep him alive. Because I was obviously in the wrong for failing to yield to a sailboat. He was completely clueless about the trumping requirements to operate in a safe manner or not interfere with a larger vessel with limited maneuverability operating in a narrow channel.

This has nothing to do with being a man and everything to do with common sense.

Why should I get a$$ ended by some sporty while I’m slowing down because someone decides to fish in the center of a busy channel? I don’t swim, tube or ski in the center because I don’t want to retrieve hamburger after a fall.

I hope people are smart enough to not to have kids aboard the time they decides to show their testosterone by claiming their right to anchorage in the middle of a channel.

Yes I have my popcorn

And yet another very valid point. I've always done my water sports, and was raised by my responsible, fishing MAN of a father to stay the hell out of the way. When you're playing (or fishing), it should be done in an area that's not a main navigable area.

Don't blame the fisherman, blame the fish. If the fish weren't there the fisherman wouldn't be there either!

That may be the smartest thing I've read today!! :)

Damn fisheries have stopped training the fish to stay out of the channel. :smt021

It's all their fault. See government has screwed us again.
