To ease the Cabin Fever.

The ones in the picture where you are showing the hidden stancion bolt ,the roll ups.My originals are bad ,po had window leaks and didnt fix them,i did of course.

Ah, well, those are original OEM Sea Ray Supply. I honestly don't know where to get new ones.

Nice job Blew. You have been busy with the old girl! We sold our 88 268 last year. Great boat, we loved it. I had the big block in mine, I cant imagine a pair of sixes with a gennie down there! YIKES. I have been restoring an 88 300 sundancer for the past year. Tons of work, but these old classic ladies are well worth the effort. I will post a couple of photos after I resize them. Dave

Hey Blew, does your rig have heat and a/c as well?

Ok, how do you add heat and a/c? Does it run off engine heat/water?

I've got the hot engine water bypass to heat the hot water tank. I'm thinking of removing the hot water tank and adding cabin heat for those spring fall trips.

Thanks!

Well, in my situation, I have a 9,000BTU AIRR Unit with reverse heat cycle. It runs off shore power or the genny. I'm sure you could run it off DC/AC Converter, you would just need some significant battery power.

In your situation, I think I would have to do some research offline, I don't see why you couldn't have a heating system that runs of you engines water pump, only problem with that would be, your engine would always have to be running to make it work unless it had another heating element with a power source.

That's what I was figuring BBY. We are trolling for salmon/walleyes up here for hours and hours on end. The engine is always idling along so an engine coolant type heating system would work fine I think. Then I could still run ceramic heaters dockside. Cooling is another issue, but here in Michigan, it's rare to need air conditioning dockside.

Thanks for the input.

Hey Getaway where is that picture from ?Looks like liberty harbor in bay city.

Actually, that pic is from Jacobson's Marina in Frankfort. After purchasing the boat, we ran it right up to a salmon tourney in Frankfort the same day. I do plan, however, to spend some time either in Liberty harbor or Wheelers landing this summer.

I recognize your pic though. Looks like Sunset to me.....

ps, I live in Bay City!

I'll keep an eye out for you at the fireworks this year. I'll be the guy anchored near Liberty bridge jigging for walleyes off the swim platform:grin:.

ok ,I'll put both planer masts up and troll down the middle .Be easy to find me that way .LOL BY THE WAY WE ARE IN SLIP 37 IF YOU ARE CRUISING BY .

Tell me a little more about your head upgrade. The wife is after me to change from the porta pot. I would also like the fact that we wouldn't have to pump out as often. Are you going with a vacu flush or will it be a manual pump to the holding tank?. I have room on the starboard side just like yours for the tank. where did you order from?
I am getting excited for the season to start. Just had the 454 rebuilt. found a cam lobe worn out and the lifter that rode on it was worn down at an angle. Can't wait to get on the water and try it out. I am in the process now of ordering replacement window channel from taylor for the side sliders. I will check my bow bolts as well. I know the one above the radio is loose. It looks like your doing a fantastic job on yours.

If you look back to my thread on 1-20-2011 You will see the manual head sitting in place. I am going to be running the hoses tomorrow and mounting the tank in place. I will take a few more pics. It looks like everything is going to come out nice and clean. The tank I got is an 18Gal made by Sealand, got it from Defender marine for around $280? I really, really wanted to go with the vaccuflush, but I just couldn't justify spending $3000.00 for tank system, and toilet bowl. WIth this project, I will get away with about $700 with manual head, tank, hoses, and clamps. However, Jabsco makes an electric conversion kit for my head for about $200.

FYI: IDK about on your boat, but when I did some looking around I found out the factory ran the wires for the macerator and tucked the wires under the sink. Black and orange #10 ga. wire. They go to the fuse block that is mounted on the transom in the engine compartment.

IMHO I would stay away from the electric conversion kit. The previous owner of my boat installed one. The motor on it is incredibly loud and it doesn't take much T.P. or other products to overrun the motor. I replaced 2 of them in 2 years then I bought a whole new manual pump toilet because I didn't have the original hand pump that he removed. The hand pump isn't fancy but it works!

Here come some more updates:

Finally got the holes drilled, and I cut come pieces of angled aluminum to hold the tank in place. I set all the screws in usuing 4200. Then I found some rubber at lowes to add as a insulator for between the tank, hull, and aluminum. I used 3m spray adhesive to hold it in place then set the tank in. I still need to make something off the back wall to hold the tank down. I don't think it will bounce to much given the position in the boat, but I will add something anyway.

Started to run all of the 1.5" hosing, this was a fun project...not. You can see in the pic I insulated the holes where the hose went through with some of the plastic wireloam.

Pooper hose finally made it to the head! I ran a 3/4 heavy duty water hose as well for the supply, it will be TEE'd from the through hull that supplies the A/C with cooling water. I will also put in check valves so the A/C pump can't pull air if it some how comes back from the head.

The cabinet in the mid cabin has to be removed in order to access the through hull for the pump out.

This is the best set up I could come up with, without drilling anymore holes in the side of my boat. I had to use a 1.5" 90 degree fitting to get this to work. I think it will be ok. I have places to put pipe straps all over so everything will be well supported. I will also put rubber in any area that I think chafing might occur.

This pic is actuall taken from the cabinet in the head showing the hose coming down.

I still need to get the vent line run and install my homemade carbon filter.

Nice job Blue. I had to do this in my last boat, 268 dancer. What brand tank is that? How many gallons? I have to replace a poopie tank in my 300 and have very limited room. It looks like the tank you chose has the diptube type discharge and pumpout fittings? I am told that this type is better to have than the older type that exits the bottom of the tank. Im told that the solids will build up in the hose. Thanx.

It s the 18 hts by sealand. They have a vaccuflush model as well. And yes, itis the diptube style. I have high hopes for it. Its a bit more cost wise then a regular tank, but easier to work with in my application.
