I've taken a look at the ebay boat - great idea Ken!
I'm sure that there would be lots of CSR members wanting to buy parts off this boat too (after you take the arch and whatever else you want). After that, you could list it on ebay again as a unit for parts or just scrap it.
The key is being able to buy your boat back and get this one at the right price since you'll also be looking at transportation, yard storage, labour, and possible scrap charges. It just might be a viable option.
If it was me and I had no plans on getting a larger boat, I would move on this in a heartbeat. The insurance company doesn't want his dead boat, so I am sure that they would accept his offer to recoup some of their losses. He would get to strip out all and / or any parts that he could use on the new boat. There are a number of things to factor into this scenario such as transportation of the E-Bay boat, boat yard fees for re & re of the engines, etc, etc. If he plays his cards right, I am sure that he can come out of this with lots of $$ to spare.
