whew. Quite a week.

First, we had a death-by-forum when some misguided individual challenged Frank on Oil filters. . .

Then, Scott declares his position in favor of price controls. . . .

and in a seperate thread Wayne goes into a homophobic seizure. . .

. . .now this!

it's winter!

I, for one, am not afraid to debate a position on either politics or religion. Debate in itself can and is health. What I abhor is personal attacks on those who wish to discuss those topics.
The first loser in any debate is the person who lashes out with personal attack because they have run out of factual material to uphold their opinion.

That being said, there are many here who know each other and their personality and from time to time poke fun at each other. New comers to the site who do not stand down long enough to recognize this friendly joisting take sides and get into trouble. That’s why I always look at the amount of posts the combatants have to see if it's friendly or not.

We have seen, on more than one occasion, new posters getting in the faces of veterans only to be bombarded by the masses and run off the site.

Post your position but keep the personal attacks out of it. I may feel our present president is a buffoon even though some liberal mag claims him to be the most admired man on earth but I would not call anyone a moron that would debate with me otherwise.

I agree with a response just a few earlier, this is very well said.

Okay, now that we are talking politics and religion in this thread do I have to move it to the holding tank too:huh:?.....
:lol::smt043:lol:

A message can be inappropriate in one context an OK in another. Playfully assaulting another person's beliefs, political, religious or otherwise, in a thread about spark plugs would generally be inappropriate. The same comment in the Tiki bar where people expect the topics to wander might be OK depending on what provoked it. We're all expected to be adults and treat one another with respect. Even the damned liberals.

I vote yes... flush it to the tank.

CSR unites Searay owners all over the world, regardless of their colour, creed, sexual orientation, political or religous leanings, simply because we have a common need to share our experiences and knowledge about these wonderful vessels and about boating in general. If you really feel the need to express your freedom of speech, then pick an Obama video on You Tube and fill your boots. There are plenty of vile and bilious comments there to satisfy yourself that freedom of speech and all that self centered, look at me,look at me, lack of situation awareness and intolerance that goes with it, is being exercised to the max.

When you get that out of your system come back here and contribute to a great forum, but respect that others around the world may not share your extreme veiws or let you know theirs. Our boating unites us, religion and politics divides us.

As for the holding tank...well it's mere existance speaks volumes. Have you ever noticed that when people do things they know are wrong, they hide behind a mask, a balaclava, a hoody, sunglasses, an upheld newspaper or a password protected 'holding tank'. The holding tank is a great place to put an offending post so long as the moderators (or should I say macerators) regualrly dump its contents rather than let it be a breeding ground for intolerance. I sure won't be visiting it.

I would like to think that the friends I make all around the world on this forum feel safe coming here. There, that's my exercise of free speech, and you know which way I'm voting.

Terry

Yes I knew you meant the Butcher Shop reference.

Yes I am Wiccan (white witch - Wicca) ((HERE WE GO))

I am amazed at the ignorance of my fellow Baptist colleagues towards your belief. Though I may not believe as you do I can understand why you do believe. Many would not understand between white and dark witches. Those dark witches that worship Satan as opposed to your belief that respects and believes in the 5 elements and the rites of the seasons.

Maybe we can talk about our belief systems on another medium or thread? Look up my E-mail address in my profile and let me know.
Seasons Blessings to you and your family.

Thanks, yes I strongly believe in the elements, as well as the Lord and the Lady. I believe in truth and life. It makes me and awesome boater, I love the river and the shores and all the life they hold. Actually several years back cpt sundancer made me an all electric powered small jon boat. It had two small trolling motors and the batteries were charged by solar power, from panels he had installed. I LOVED THAT BOAT. Sold it to a freelance wildlife photo journalist, his need for the boat was greater then mine.

A Joyous and Amazing new year to you and yours!

Becareful you could wake up like this:grin:

cpt sundancer and I disagree on alot of things in Spiritual and in Political matters. Yet, we it comes to each other, our kids, our granddaughter, out pets, and our Sweet-T we are in-sync. We are the Ying and the Yang. All is good in our world.

So no newts here, sorry.

I think that common ground for both our beliefs is that we have been put in a place of stewardship with and in some cases over nature. We are to preserve it as we move about. Yes we use it for our betterment but not abuse it. I think this is the essence of the outdoors life in general and for us, boating/camping in particular.

Again, it's my humble opinion and offered as common ground to all here.

I'm torn. Add this lunatic to the ignore list and avoid such piffle, or keep reading this mind bogglingly ludicrous twaddle that is almost funny, except for that it's so pathetic bereft of any intelligence. A conundrum...

Since a coin was mentioned let me add my two cents worth in here, but it could be I am in a quandary because I might not have enough to make two cents. I say use the ignore feature.

The spelling would be lacook, not lunatic.

Hope that twaddle is insightful enough for you

I am smiling all the way to the ignore function and you?

Religion and politics spur conflict... add in some monopolized world banking and organized population control and we'll have another craigslist rants & raves!

Thanks, Frank. You always have the optimal solution.

My boat is not Obama. My boat is not Pelosi. My boat is not Limbaugh. My boat is not Beck. My boat is not conservative. My boat is not liberal. My boat is not religious. My boat is not atheist. My boat is a SEA RAY and regardless of our political or religious beliefs, we all have that in common.

I come to CSR because I have a question or an answer for another CSR member. I voted No to banning because everyone is entitled to their own opinions but I also believe in exercising good judgment and taste when posting messages on a boating forum.

If you must post your pleasure or displeasure with religion or the past, present or future administration, then perhaps you are on the wrong forum.
