This is going to be awesome, and I am following it closely. Make sure you plan ahead for splashing and rain. Think of all the possibilities: Nav, Weather, Streaming TV while anchored (for watching games), Music hub.

Keep us updated and post a parts list when you are done!

Yup. Will do. The music hub is part of winter project part II, new head unit and amp. I need to solicit help from a friend or professional for that one. Stereo **** scares me.

Very impressive. I'll be holding on to my old girl a little while longer.

I am seriously digging the all digital dash layout. I never liked the combo/LCD gauges I have in my 270.
I bet a retrofit would be sorta pricey. I also like the side entry transom much better.
That through the center of the transom thing is just dumb.

Take some "non-Sales" pics while you are there and post them up!

Jester.

I spent considerable time on the new 280 and 310 SLX at the NY show.
The 280 SLX was nice, but candidly, not nice enough to tempt me to upgrade. However, the 310 SLX is a standout. Innovative design, great amenities, terrific form and function. SR nailed it on this boat.

Side note - the 290 Sundeck OB was spectacular as well, in a more utilitarian way. Amazing layout and space, just not as "sexy" as the SLX line.

What was the "Boat Show Price" on the 310?

wait 2 years and there will be used ones around for $150. I could be in then.

Unfortunately the Chicago Show only had the 280, which offered some nice innovation, but I agree with the other comment that it didn't take my breath away, although with 27'-28' feet of fiberglass, I'm not sure how many more tricks SR's engineers can pull off.

Looking forward to the rich people trading in their 310s in a few years. :)

In the meantime, this has been my favorite upgrade to the 300 SLX: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JMX97GO?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00 (For those of you familiar, the standard TP holder is mounted to the door and sticks out into the already small head. I mounted this thing inside of the door storage, and it creates probably 6" of extra moving space inside, which makes a world of difference. Not to mention, the SS flap prevents those surprises of a TP filled bathroom that are caused by some movement and air flow.)

I broke the walkthrough windshield on my 270 SLX yesterday. Is the glass on the center walkthrough flat or curved?

Cuved.. This is a pic of mine with the window open. You can see the curvature of the window...

****. That sucks. Sorry :(
You might be able to order from sea ray as i think it is exactly the same part on today's model. Might be a different number but should be the same part.

What did you end up doing about this?

Nothing yet. I took the walkthrough part off (one screw) and it's been in the back of my SUV ever since. I'm going to take it to a glass shop and see if they can put something in there. If not glass, then maybe plexiglass?

UPDATE ON THE BROKEN WALK-THROUGH WINDSHIELD...

I made friends with the parts guy a the dealer. He was able to source the glass for ~$180. The frame plus glass was around $900. I'm picking the glass up today that will (hopefully) just slide in the frame.

Im in the process (slow process) of building an iPad setup in my dash. I've found that using the navionics app is more useful to me than any fixed gps unit mounted to the dash mostly because I can constantly update the software, for free, and I can use the iPad for other things.

Going to be making a cluster panel to fit both the smartcraft/rpm gauge, speedometer, and the iPad. The iPad will be mounted with Logitech magnet kit, which is strong enough to hold the iPad steady without moving, yet the iPad will still be removable. Hard wiring a USB plug behind the dash to charge the iPad.

It will look good, when I get to finishing it this winter.

Finally had a chance to finish the install. Unfortunately I forgot my iPad at the office so I didn't have it for the photo, but here's the setup. The iPad has 2 small metal plates behind it that match up to the magnets and hold it in place. I used the existing circuit for the navman which I removed to wire up the usb charger. Works great so far with my iPhone, which is almost as big as the iPad mini LOL!

So, in combination with my new fusion 650 head unit, amp, speakers, and remotes, I feel comfortable entering the 2016 season with good technology. Spotify (via bluetooth) and Navionics driving the show from the iPad.

My one concern is glare on the iPad, but I should be able to adjust the angle of the iPad to reduce glare along with the anti glare screen protector I have.

Looking forward to reporting back with some real-life experience in a couple of weeks!

Now back to more late night scrubbing of the seadek on the boat in the garage. This stuff is so good but such a pain in the arse.

Could you provide a few pics of the stereo and remotes installation?
Also, how did you run the stereo remote wires?
This is one of my future upgrades.

Sure. I don't have any on my phone right now but will take and share. It was really easy to wire the remote-- I hired a professional to do it :D

Where are you in PA? I have a guy here in NJ that is fairly priced, honest, and would probably travel to eastern PA.

Western Pa., near Pittsburgh.
Did he have to remove interior bits or did he do it without taking major things apart?
Since Clarion changed their wiring to the remotes, I am stuck at the CMD5 stereo without giving up remote functionality.
If I need to run new remote wires, then I can consider any system. That stereo in the head door is just a plain bad idea on these boats.

It wasn't that complicated. He replaced amp, head unit, remote, and speakers in like 3 hours with two guys.

Rggale - Was your navman still working when you removed it?

My navman was still working, but I really never used it. I know my waters around here really well, and when going outside of my normal area I just used my iPad with Navionics so I had access to updated charts.
