There is a whole new host of new SLXs for 2016: 230, 250, 280, and 310.

Supposedly the first ones will be released in Florida in the fall.

Just talked to my dealer. He says complete redesign for the SLX, and he's going to see them in October.

Sounds about right. My dealer invited me to an event with "preview photos" that engineers sent them (seemed a little scandalous). I didn't go, but the invite included the model numbers (those I posted here).

Of course, this is not too surprising. The 300 SLX was long in the tooth; the 270 only a little more recent of a design. In the 30' segment, the Formula and Chap likely beat the SR with most spacious design, especially the mini-head.

I've got a late model 2015 SLX, but the 2016 doesn't look any different. MM in Sarasota Florida has one for sale now that is a 2016.

Maybe these are 2017 models then. It's supposed to be a complete redesign. I'd expect the head to be bigger, and the cockpit to have a better seating arrangement. I also expect to see rear facing seats in the back for lounging.

I'd also expect:

* Swivel captain's and co-pilot's chairs (similar to the 350 SLX co-pilot chair) to create a surround aft lounging area
* Coolers that are truly insulated? (Love the idea of the coolers in my platform and bow, but ice lasts about 2 hours max on a hot day.)
* Better indirect LED lighting (again, similar to 350 SLX, which is a new design)
* Another pair of rear cleats (perhaps pop-up)
* Larger trash bin (I ripped out the waste basket-sized one on mine and put in a larger SimpleHuman can)
* Better bar area with more storage (small drawer for corkscrews, cutting board, bottle storage, etc.)
* For a $250k+ MSRP boat, is it too much to ask for a few hundred dollar water heater/hot water system for the transom shower? This p*sses me off to no end.

Of course, those are just some of my expectations. :)

So I "picked up" my 2016 350 SLX last month and the changes from '15 are drastic. There is not a single analogue gauge. There are 2 Raymarine digital displays w/touch screens, one as the primary navigation unit the other as the backup but both can control all of the boats functions. The only few buttons are the horn, the windlass activation and the up/down for the windlass. Very neat but a bit getting used to where I can find every button control. Overall I am very happy and it is a beautiful boat. Cabin, if that is what you want to call it is small but good for storage as a day boat.

I've seen a photo of the 2016 310 SLX...looks like a baby 350SLX. Very nice lines, looking forward to SR releasing the marketing for it.

Hi everybody

wanted to get some insights and opinions on mounting a vhf on an 06 270. I'm looking at buying the ray70 vhf but I'm at a loss for the ideal place to mount it that will also give me access to run the cables. I should note the ray70 has ais which I will tie into the a68 multi display I'm also installing so I'll need to be able to connect to it. Additionally if there is a way to install an 8' antenna I'd like to do that as well but the lines on this boat may make that hard. Any insight advice or pics of what people have done would be great, thanks!

The VHF on my 06 270 is mounted at the helm by my right knee. The antenna is mounted on the tower.

That's kind of where is was thinking. Unfortunately I don't have a tower, forgot to mention that. Thanks for your insight

Has anyone with the Navman 5500 chart plotter had to replace that unit? I am looking for something that more or less fits the original opening. My back light failed.

You and I have the exact same boat and exact same problem. After a lot of research I have found and 99% decided on the raymarine a68 multi function display with chirp downvision. After talking to west marine and checking the specs it fits the current cut out almost exactly (I think it's .25 inches smaller and little thicker). But it is quite the upgrade over the navman.

Thanks for the reply. Looks like it will fit. Pretty spendy though...

Im in the process (slow process) of building an iPad setup in my dash. I've found that using the navionics app is more useful to me than any fixed gps unit mounted to the dash mostly because I can constantly update the software, for free, and I can use the iPad for other things.

Going to be making a cluster panel to fit both the smartcraft/rpm gauge, speedometer, and the iPad. The iPad will be mounted with Logitech magnet kit, which is strong enough to hold the iPad steady without moving, yet the iPad will still be removable. Hard wiring a USB plug behind the dash to charge the iPad.

It will look good, when I get to finishing it this winter.

This is going to be awesome, and I am following it closely. Make sure you plan ahead for splashing and rain. Think of all the possibilities: Nav, Weather, Streaming TV while anchored (for watching games), Music hub.

Keep us updated and post a parts list when you are done!
