Re: 270 Select EX Thread

Maybe we should just make it the Select EX Thread. I think we are a small minority in the Sport Boats.

Sounds good to me.

Where do you all spend your time boating?

Re: 270 Select EX Thread

Me got one too!!!!!!!!!!!

We run anywhere from Holland to Muskegon if Lake Michigan is warm and at a reasonable chop. Otherwise, we hang in Spring Lake or Pigeon Lake.

Awesome!

What is your top speed?
Looking for a comparison... because I have only gotten mine up to 47mph, GPS. I have the same engine as you, and I know I should be going faster than that.

Thanks

54 MPH, one other person, 1/4 gas, 1/2 water, very light chop. No tower though:smt013.

running with 3 adults, full gas, full water, and sports tower I've hit 48.x GPS. When I'm below half a tank of fuel i've hit 51.5 GPS with my wife and I.

Okay thanks.
I don't have the tower option on my boat.

Hoping to hit the water this weekend,
I'll experiment with the trim tabs a bit more.

with that engine I would be surprised if you even need to use your trim tabs. I never use mine.... Maybe you mean the "trim". Yeah just trip it up a few seconds at the time... when you feel slight cavitation just bump it down and you'll be good!!! Note the trim gauge always has a slight delay on actual trim. I've learned to go by feel and then verify with gauge.

I love my sports tower, but at the same time there is a give and take I believe. You get more coverage (sun/rain) if you DON'T have the tower and you have the canopy kit.

My wife wishes we had more coverage than the sports tower provides..... oh well.....

Yeah, I know what you're saying.

I think the tower looks pretty sweet though!
We don't have enough bridge clearance where we keep our boat to have had the tower option :smt101

I'll trade you my bimini top for your tower.

You got it . But i am not in the US .
Great boat but what a bummer , no front ladder .
I hear you about the sports tower coverage , you should see the sun we get out here .
Not very happy with the quality though , i have 30hrs on the boat and one of the steel arches attached to the tower is almost totally unscrewed , i guess from vibration .

Wassim, where do you do your boating?

And I upgraded from a 220 Sundeck, which DID have the front ladder option. We haven't beached the 270 SLX yet... but that will definitely be an inconvenience.

And 250SLX: you ask why Wassim chose the SLX over the SD... I was in the same situation. The SLX definitely looks sleeker/sportier, although the SD was a great boat. The SLX is wider as well, offering a better ride than the SD's 8'6" beam.

Just my reasoning why we chose the SLX. :smt038:smt038:smt038

Re: 270 Select EX Thread

If you wanted a front ladder, why did you not buy a 260 or 280 Sundeck with a sports tower?

i had a 240 SD , owned it for 4 months then upgraded to the 270 for the same reasons as Bushway, sportier , nicer finishes and handles better better in waves . When i bought the 270 i didn't realize it didn't have the front ladder :wow:.

In retrospect i should have stuck to the sundeck line , they are more convenient especially as a family boat and more value for money .

I live in the persian gulf a place called Abu Dhabi . Great for boating , plenty of islands to beach the boat .

Since you mentioned the 260 , does anyone know the difference between the 260 and 240 ? the specs look identical , only difference is the price .

There really isn't that much difference. They both ride the same. The 260 is a bit heavier, but that didn't seem to change the ride. The biggest difference I remember is a slightly higher gunwale on the 260. Not worth the price difference IMO.

Unless you go with the 290, there is really nothing in the Sun Deck line to compare with the ride and handling of the 270 SLX. And the 290 only compares in that it can handle big water, it is not nearly as quick and nimble. I loved our 240, but I wouldn't go back, even to get a bow ladder. We never used ours, I didn't want the kids going directly from the beach/dirt onto the boat. I always made them board from the swim platform so their feet would get washed off in the water. my $.02 FWIW.

Re: 270 Select EX Thread

in on this.

love owning this boat! Also amazed at how much respect the boat receives from larger boat owners.
