Official 390 E.C. Thread

I have a question for 390 Express owners. My brother-in-law lives in San Diego and wants the change out both tv's but is not sure how to mount them. Is there any pictures on form showing the tv upgrades on this boat. We changed out ours but we have a 1999 370 Sundancer and the set up is very different.

Connie, may be you can get some ideas from pages 11 and 15 in my thread  ("me feeling proud" mode: on)

Thank you Pietro, I just sent the web site to my brother-in-law. I am sure he will enjoy seeing all the before and after pictures as much as I did. Did you every stablize the mid cabin TV?

No, but I'll put it back in the closet while underway.

Just thought i'd wake up the thread,, Who takes the cake in hours per season? i did 193 hrs, hmm let's see, about 5 hours @ 25 mph x .5 mpg = 250 gallons, plus 188 hours at 6 mph, my favorite autopilot speed @ 1 mpg = 1128 gallons plus 250 = 1378 x $3.5 or so, hell, I only spent about 5 grand on fuel, not to mention all the neccessities, guess i shoulda bought diesels and a still. :smt043I wonder if they make an afordable Sea Ray i could live on all year?

I didn't keep track of hours and only got mine Aug 19th but did run a couple of thousand in diesel thru her. My first trip was the almost 400 miles from Tampa to Mobile Bay. That was a blast.
For you diesel 390 owners, I did a cool graph for rpm/speed vs mpg. I don't have a fuel flow meter, so using published Catepillar flow per rpm datA, I measured speed at every 100 rpm and calculated a mpg.

Fuel burn rate
RPM * * GPH * * * * * *MPH * * *MPG
2000 * 6.5/13. * * *18.8. * *1.44
2100 * *7.8/15.6. * *20.5. * 1.31
2200 * *9.0/18. * * * 22.1. * 1.22
2300 * *10.5/21. * * 23.4. * 1.12
2400 * *12/24. * * * 24.9. * *1.04
2500 * *14/28. * * * 26.2. * *0.94
2600 * *16/32. * * * 27.4. * *0.86
2700 * *18.8/37.6. *28.8. * 0.76
2800 * *21/42 * * * *29.8. * 0.71

As you can see, if you can stand running around at 20 mph, you can get 1.4 mpg!

That is interesting. I promise to check those numbers with my FloScan. Next summer I would like to go to Sardinia and this means a 150 nm cruise... so I have to work out the best speed/mpg.

Getting to be that time of the year to start repairs. 99 days till she goes back into the water!

One thing I have to fix is the sending units for the head holding tank. the gauge on the sink does not work. Any suggestions on where to start? Also any suggestions on vacuflush repairs. Seems to take a long time to flush and the pump is fairly noisy. reading about duckbill valves and the need to replace them.

gauges are another problem. Fuel gages only work partway, tack is off but engine sync seems to be ok. Any thoughts on going thru the replacement of gauges?

Just looking for ideas, thoughts and suggestions as i get planning for this coming season.

Thanks!

I repaired mine last season. Start by filling the tank half way with fresh water and a good dose of Dawn liquid, let it slosh around for a few hours and then pump out the tank. Disconnect the sender wires and unscrew the sender unit from the top of the tank (rubber gloves will help). Mine was cleaner than I could have hoped for. Then you just need to hose off the float valves to remove the built up crud. My floats were freed up and easily slid up and down on the rods. Reverse to reassemble, if you have the clearance to pull the sender unit out it should only take 45 mins or so to complete. By the way a shot of Dawn in the head weekly helps to break down the natural oils and grease that collect in the holding tank.

Thanks for the response and I will do that. Since the boat is in storage now, I may take out the sending unit and see if I can clean it up but will be adding that hit of Dawn each week once we get underway!

Thanks again!

Hard top looks cool, I just wonder if it's high enough to allow stand up driving...

By chance does anyone have the plans for the plywood backing used as the base for the cockpit interior pieces? I'm specifically interested in the measurements of the storage bins that circle the rear of the cockpit. Also, if anyone has the measurements of the larger side pieces that run from the dash & lexan cabin entrance towards the rear of the boat (the pieces where the stereo speakers are mounted).

I had all the cockpit interior pieces removed in December to be recovered - unfortunately the shop doing the work burned to the ground last week.

Needless to say I'm pressed for time as the boating season is fast approaching. Having the plans for these pieces would certainly save me a ton of time making mock up pieces.
Thanks!

need to replace the vacuflush pump in the 88 390 EC. I don't have many of the manuals, the boat is in storage a couple of hours away and I wanted to get a jump on ordering.

Does anyone know the model/specs, etc. needed to replace it?

Thanks!

Roger that on the sh__ty job. I did mine 3 years ago. The diaphragm was cracked so I changed the entire pump + duckbills while I was at it. I also removed the Y-valve and replaced the tee fitting at the tank with a 90 degree elbow. I used the thru-hull discharge fitting for an intake for my new wash down pump.

Now I have one more problem. Like I said, its done nothing but rain for 2 weeks. On the boat last night and woke up to a soggy bed! The hatch above the forward berth has been an ongoing problem as far as leaking. Thought I had it fixed but still no luck. Thinking the best thing to do is take it out completely and replace it. Been looking but no luck in finding one so far that would match the other two on the deck. Can't have them not matching!

Anyone know where we can get a replacement for that forward hatch ?

Thanks again for all the help!
