My Sandy Story

Alex
We were in the ocean on the way back from LL. Someone introduced me to a group that came on the third ones a charm 58 carver and we were out drinking till the sun came up so I was a little bit a lot hungover. So I jumped In but I have peed a little I probably wouodnt have noticed lol.

Ron needs a boat that fits his role as the leader of our motley crew wise guy Barnegat boys... Its hard to imagine Ron not in a Sedan Bridge boat. It would be tough for me to go from a sliding glass door to a DA cave boat... Fuel economy is not the only factor when choosing your boat... I have been sending Ron suggestions of boats for sale trying to close in on what our fearless leader would like to captain for his next boat... I sent him a beautiful 2007 37 SD, but he wants better fuel economy and no colored hulls... I sent him a Diesel 340, but he wants 5 "0s" not 6... So I have determined, I think, what Ron wants for his next boat... An '03 or later 340 DA for less than 100K, white hull... So if any one out has suggestions for Ron's new boat send them to him... Fresh water over Salt. Low hours. Low cost.

Rod,

I have been following and am saddened by the losses and pictures
Ron, I don't know you personally but please accept my condolences on the loss of your boat
man..this whole situation sucks but don't give up on boating Bro.

I told you, this thread has legs! Not shopping until end of summer. Just keeping my ear to the ground.

I'll be around for a while. Thanks again to everyone who chimed in!

my 600 is for sale and for the right price I could build a second story on for ya

Ron,

What I did when I sold my 300 DA was we bought our 190 Sundeck to try to recreate the fun times of small boating... We took a 5 year absense from cruising, before we bought our 340 DA... My 190 Sundeck is now available, and for you my friend, I would give a very good price... But alas, I understand your aprehension of getting back into boating so soon after your loss... You need time to morn, and time to dream, and time to focus on your band... So you have an open invite to use our boat... We always leave the keys in her, so feel free to taker out anytime... I am sadden by your loss, and sadden by the thought that you will not be on the water next summer... You will be missed...

Rod...you are a helluva guy and thanks very much for the offers. To be honest, I'm not mourning I'm saddened with how my love affair with this boat was abruptly ended by a situation that was not within my control. I may be more saddened when I see the check Allstate ultimately cuts me. But mourning, nah. I'm be taking my time scouring yachtworld, reading up on various models, talking to people about "things to look for" etc. I'm going to be saving some coin, catching up on stuff around the house that needs to be caught up on and planning who's boat I'm going to be freeloading on during any given weekend next summer (ah, so many offers from so many well-wishers!).

I have been completely consumed with boating for the past 16 years...it has engulfed my life, from the time when I was 6 months old - each and every weekend of each and every summer...and I have ZERO regrets about that. But it's going to be fun to do some other stuff and give my beautiful bride a break from it for a season.

Buying a small boat to spin around in is an idea I had toyed with but not something I think I'd be satisfied with at this point in my life. It's gonna be all or nothing for me. I'll still be around - I just won't be behind the wheel. OPG (other people's gas) Baby!

I've got a tank of fuel money (just call it a boat dollar so we can deal with a round, even number) that says you will have a boat before the end of next summer.

Don't remind me of tanks full of fuel. Asked my adjuster if I can get any of the pre-paid winter storage that I won't need back (nope) or if there's any provision to get a check for the 250g of farm-fresh, stabilized gas-a-hol that I put the boat away with back (nope).

Define "end of next summer." Labor Day or Autumnal Equinox?

Fair enough. BUT, let's make it $1 (regular dollar, not boat dollar). I'll admit there's a pretty good chance I'll get one by the equinox. If you said 4th of July, I'd be getting some significant tankage!

Strike a deal with Carter (he doesn't need two boats), we'll truck it over to the coast, drop it in the water and bring it north and you can be a gas DA guy instead of one of those BBG's (Bridge Boat Guys).

I'm just going to throw this out there - if Carter's 340 is sold by the time you need a ride, Ron, I will very likely have my 340 for sale. That diesel bug keeps biting me.....

Dale

Extremely sorry to hear of your misfortune and I'm hoping the insurance companies look after you.

I must admit, when I first joined CSR, I was enthralled with your signature pic at the time (one before current one I believe). Thought to myself, I'll 'ave one of those.

Good luck with the toy hunt!

Ron, I found a boat for you. 1997 370 Sedan Bridge listed by Grande Yachts International for 58K. Boat is in South Carolina. I used to have one of these and can tell you that the performance would be about what you're used to (kind of sucks) but you can't beat the layout and the size of the salon. Plus it probably has fuel injection so you can just press the buttons and go (no choke, no pumping the throttles). Think about what you might be able to buy it for. You know the kind of discount I got on my Aft Cabin. Just trying to tempt you back! Mark

Mark
Took a look at it but we're going to break away from the sedan bridge concept to a 'dancer. Also gonna try to get into the new millennium. Thanks for searching for me!
