Ah. . .such fun in these threads.

So much heat. So little light.

The one person who actually might know something is declared "too close to the topic"; so instead everyone discusses talking points as communicated by one network that offers political commentary as a part of its core programming.

Glad I had other things to do the last few days.

Scott;

Not interested in sharing those views on this forum at the moment. Doesn't this more appropriately belong in the "Holding Tank"? However, I will say that I suspect the issues are not quite what they are made out to be in this thread.

I am far more interested in discussing the deep budget "cuts" being enacted in Washington by the Tea Party. . . .but I don't feel like creating a thread down in the holding tank.

It is all real simple. Country went into recession. Banks quit lending. People quit buying. Company's made less product. State collects less sales tax. Less freight (product) to haul, I made less money. I paid less income tax. State runs out of money. Needs to spend less. Public sector jobs need trimmed. This ain't that hard to grasp.

Problem is you can't force the unions to take these concessions with collective barhaning still around. Example. The trucking company YRC (used to be Yellow and Roadway) told the Teamsters to have a vote on concessions. Both in pensions and medical. If we don't get it we close shop. The union voted in the concessions. Now how can any state do the same without the possibility of closing shop? Collective barganing only works if both sides have the capibility of going out of buisness.

. . . . uneducated hicks. . . . . watch Fox News . . . have no idea what the situation is . . . . . . Oh wait

Scott;

As indicated, the majority of members on the board would prefer me not to participate in this thread any further, so I will pass on responding to the obvious goading

Yes, my wife is a public school teacher in Wisconsin.

Let me ask you this. How much do you feel a teacher should make?

She is 20 years in, has her masters in computers, got her masters with a perfect 4.0, that means straight A’s. She has received teaching awards that were nominated by her peers.

I am sorry some people on this thread are having difficulties. There are plenty of unemployed teachers as well.

Are you mad at all people who make more then you? So are well all mad at Bill Gates? How about our fellow forum member Four Suns whose former company developed web based program updating and is now a multi multi millionaire? Do we all now hate him because he has more money than us?

I say Bully for the people of WI for standing up and having their voices heard, Bully for your wife for believing in this country enough that she knows she can be heard. Bully for you for supporting her!!!!!

PS
One a personal note the reason I hate Four Suns has NOTHING to do with how much money he has. He is just a jerk, plain and simple.

Oh swell...the two narcissistic pig lovers are back. Lets see how quickly this thread can become about them ...

About us? thought this thread was about wisc. politics. And again another pig comment :smt021

when you ever going to let the pig thing go? Only person making it about us is you. We are supporting the rights of the teachers. How does that have anything to do with out pig?

At the moment, this is about Wisconsin, but the entire country is watching Wisconsin closely, because just about every state is in a similar situation, or will be soon. You can't keep funding these public service groups at levels that aren't sustainable.

I agree that the entire Country is watching Wisconsin and the outcome. I am sure others are going to follow with protest as well.

I happen to work in wisc. and live in mn.,we have a union so even though the outcome won't effect me,who is to say it wont in the future if the gov. gets his way.:wow:

And what rights would would you be supporting for the teachers? None of their rights are under assault. None. Zero.

From everything I have read and heard the only thing that will be negatively affected is the unions themselves. It seems the unions are getting their members all fired up to defend them. If I am wrong, please tell me what I am missing.

Obviously I am against labor unions. I think their day of benefit to the workers and the country has come and gone. While I do understand some of the arguments from union supporters when dealing with low income or non-technical work, I have yet to hear any valid reason why any professional such as a teacher, etc, would need any support from a union. If you don't think your employer is paying you enough or giving you good enough benefits, seek other employment.

I have seen the results first hand from a local union strike and the net effect was alot of lost jobs.

You are not cheering for the people of WI. You are cheering out of both sides of your mouth. You are cheering for unions forcing citizens to spend what they do not have, and that is against the WI people.

I love how I take the time to write a comprehensive post giving detail and explaining to all you pro union types what this is about and I get not ONE response. I bet you all whistle by the graveyard when you pass a night to cover your fear.

Com, I told you in a previous post about Fox News which you failed to engage in a reasoned discussion, so until you want to have that discussion, zip the bashing.

This is why you save for a rainy day. You think this is bad just look at what the FMCSA has in store for my buisness. (Federal Motor Carrier Saftey Admin.) For those in the non trucking world.

Prepare for the worst. It could happen.

Well, that's what happens sometimes.

Especially in the Tiki Bar, where political discussions are unwelcome.

There are very few people will to present non-right wing positions on the board. And they only do so in the face of heavy ridicule and condemnation. There are several examples in this thread alone. So don't be surprised when the "Left of Far Right" types don't rise to every bit of bait put out there.

I am still strenously avoiding commenting on the political angles of this thread.

You most certainly did tell me about Fox News.
I am sure if I had engaged that particular post it would have most certainly been a "reasoned discussion". But as I said above; the "Left of Far Right" types don't respond to every piece of bait.

Mike; you seem a bit extra touchy tonight! I didn't even mention that network by name, until this post. Although, I admit to very selectively quoting Scott in a subsequent response: I think at least he appreciated the humour. You shouldn't take things so personally!

OK. . .I think I am done with this thread now. Well. . maybe one more post. . .honest. . . .I can stop anytime I want.

I think Wisconsin should stick to making cheese.
