Guns on your boat

I guess all these boaters packing guns is what our founding fathers had in mind as a "...well regulated militia.."

When you are anchored out some place and someone decides to pay you a visit who you going to call?

What mall was this I and about what year? I may remember this one from the late 70's!
Hey Ken. The mall was Richmond Hilltop, and the year was 1978.
God I am getting old!

Nice place to hang out! I was graduating from high school that year in SSF. There were a lot of mall beatings and gang fights back then. Samoans against Tongans in Tanforan Mall was an epic battle! I built the second group of 4 theaters that replaced the ice skating rink in 1988 or so. That area was pretty bad for a long time and Richmond proper is still a scary place to be in!

If someone is out to do harm, they are looking for drugs , money, or to settle a vendetta. If none of that fits your description , you have nothing to sweat. If you want to be paranoid , that's on you.

Site some examples of innocent boaters being targeted. That info just isn't out there. Kinda groups you into the bagless boaters club. Like said... Grow a set. Sometimes the truth hurts

The truth is as unfortunate as your attitude toward your fellow boaters on this forum.

The first story may be believable. Next 3 .,Doubt it. Last one on the Mexican border, REALLY. If you boat on the Mexican border , duh, you fill in the blanks

Duh. It's called "Texas." People boat there. A few years ago a guy got abducted off his jet ski at gunpoint while his wife watched.

So if the wife was armed she could have shot back at the Mexican mafia and everything would have ended happily ever after ?

I never said that. I said (a) you were wrong when you claimed this kind of crap never happens on the water and (b) your attitude compounds your error.

IF I lived or boated along the border of Tx. I'd carry more than just a sidearm and I would not give a damn what the CG or any TX LEO would say.

But that's just me

My wife can put a hole through a hole at 10 yards with her M&P9mm - so yes. I would have her shoot back and yes, it would end happily ever after. And again, for the record - we're in Canada so people should stop making this a USA vs Australia thing. Canada stands with the USA. Sorry Crocodile Dundees - if ya need someone to blast away a few cans of Foster's with a 12 gauge for ya'll we'd be happy to oblige.

Innocent boaters get targeted in restaurants, theaters, convenience stores, ATMs and walking down the street. Did you ever leave your boat to go onshore? When I do, I have a force equalizer to protect my family. As a rule, most officers go their entire careers without firing their weapons at an offender. Why does a police officer carry a firearm on and off duty and after they are retired? Where I go, a firearm goes, law permitting, which is nearly everywhere. I have a duty to protect my family with force if needed, just like I have insurance, fire extinguishers, the safest cars on the road, locks, and security systems. I never needed any of those things and I'm not about to give any of them up. Most of my boating destinations are low risk, but not no risk. I have no earthquake insurance, which is low risk, but not no risk. I'm willing to risk my home to an earthquake to save 20 bucks a month, but I'm not willing to risk the life of my wife or children to save 20 ounces hanging on my belt.

Here's one more for our foreign friends. Note, all of my examples are deadly violence by offenders without guns. Remember what I told you about the decay of society, broken criminal justice system, no place to put the dangerous mentally ill, racial, ethnic, and class division, and a culture of dependency. This one combines a bunch of those issues.

LOL Right! There are no stories about boaters being targeted that were not drug dealers or trouble makers. That's a good one! In fact, in the whole history of the world nobody has been attacked, robbed, raped, or set upon, that were not, themselves, involved in skullduggery or asking for it in some fashion. What? You do not have Google there in Fantasy land? No Latitude 38 Magazine? Seriously, I do not think everyone is equipped to be a sheep dog. Some of us have to be sheep. Sheep do not need to understand the motivations and passions of the sheep dog. Sheep do not need the same special skills of a sheep dog, and convincing sheep to be dogs is a waste of time. No matter how over sized their balls. I am fine with sheep. Some of my best friends are sheep.

You know what we do to sheep, and we don't use a gun.....oh hang on that's New Zealanders!

Pulling a gun by you might trigger a situation where you really risk the life of your wife and your children. You assume you are the only one who is armed and you will stabilize the situation on your side , but the reality might be different.

When you run into a scenario where using a gun might become an option , you most probably deal with more than some teenies looking for trouble. Grabbing now for a gun might result in the outcome they do the same but are quicker and you pay with your life where the initial idea of the bad guys was only to take your money.

I,m not sure if you and your family are more safe if you have in mind to resolve an assault with your firearm.

That may be true for some people who carry, but not everyone. Many people who carry take shoot don't shoot very seriously. They train frequently, both live fire, and simulator. Many of these people are active or retired law enforcement, and military.

The ones who are not law enforcement, or military, may still be well trained and experienced in tense life threatening situations. There are a minority who just feel good carrying a gun. They worry me immensely. They buy a gun, take the minimum requirements for concealed carry, then don't practice, or maintain their weapon. Even they aren't on the news for missing their target, and hitting a bystander. Or getting shot with their own gun.

If that were the case, the anti gun people would be cramming those stories down our throats on the national news.

Everything in the news is politically marketed, and hyper sensationalized. Gun deaths are declining, yet they make it seem we live in the wild west.

What do you mean by that? We have some very helpful contributors on this board from New Zealand. Are you implying they have sex with sheep? That doesn't strengthen your argument.

aerobatt77 I don't carry but here in the states a gun is never used for show there for if you go for your gun you better plan on using it.And you might be surprised to know this but there are laws about brandishing a fire arm .If you have a conceal and carry it better stay concealed until you plan on using it.
