The laws are in place that would prevent both of the circumstances you lay out, but our problem we do have here is apathy. If the vendors don't follow the laws, and the police don't enforce the laws....well, that is a problem and needs to be fixed, I don't argue that point.
It irks me to no end about how we came together as a nation during a crisis (9/11) and now find ourselves more divided and apathetic than ever as a society. As a commercial pilot, I see the apathy every day, and truthfully, it pisses me off.
Me too what's the point if we can't even talk civilly to each other as a society how can anything ever get solved, our politics have become more of a sport than leaders who want to tackle a problem, what is so hard about sitting down to hammer out real solutions. They've been elected to solve problems not give 20 second sound bites & fly off for fund raisers.
I was just looking for a list on the web that showed which cities in our state rarely do background checks when I find it I'll post it. Their suppose to protect us, you'd think they wouldn't want certifiable nuts in their own cities carrying it's their lives on the line when they respond to a shooting.
I'm not for new laws but dam they need to enforce what is on the books not throw darts at which ones to enforce.
One new law I like is registering drones over 9 ounces, as a pilot you know what a laser does last week at SeaTac a drone had a laser mounted on it blinded 3 pilots during landing. They searched for several hours without luck as you know they can't send up helicopters to search for lasers.
