A bright future for club sea ray

Why? Do you need some? :smt043:smt043:smt043

Sorry, could not resist.

But seriously, that was not the best of ideas to start with.

Should I take a Hitler approach to this and just start weeding out the undesirables? Would love to hear the solution. You guys do realize how boring this place would be if it was a bunch of experts hanging out with no questions to answer.

Jim,
I am new to this forum but have particpated in several others, including being a moderator, over the past 10 years and this one so far has been tamer than most. This latest episode, while unfortunate, is a speed bump not a road block. I suggest you continue to monitor forum behavior as always and unless things get noticeably worse, keep your sword sheathed until it is truly needed.

I have a number of questions being both a new boater and Sea Ray owner that should helpp to keep the forum experts busy in the coming months so no need to practice your "goosestepping" yet.

Right on Jim.

There is nothing happening on this forum that wouldn't happen if you put a random group of 100 people in a locked room and asked for a concensus on just about any topic that you could think of before you let them out. Sooner or later, there will be a few groups of people who agree with each other, a handful of people that don't agree with anyone, and a few individuals that just want to start arguments, pick fights, or just gum up the works. We've all seen it in school, at work, and even in CSR. This sort of bickering between people happens everywhere. It is unavoidable. Jim just shouldn't ban people because others don't like the manner in which they bicker.

Gary enjoys finding out what bothers a person and then zeroing in on it. He can be relentless. I really get a kick out of post #6 in this thread. Wraps it up with a bow on top. You know what? If you can't take verbal abuse, stay off of the friggin' internet. At least Gary will only go so far on his own. Things only get out of hand when the other person starts escalating the situation, and well... We all know how much Gary likes backing down. There certainly isn't any French blood in him... :smt043

However, there is a line that cannot be crossed. If you truly hate an individual on CSR (or anywhere else for that matter), the proper way to handle it is to ignore that person and move on and move on with your life. The line that I am speaking of is the internet itself. Any action that moves toward a person (or their family's) physical presence is beyond that line. Nobody has the right to infringe on a person's physical safety or well being as a result of verbal bantering on the internet.

One of my customers is the US Postal Service. I had the opportunity to see the facilty where they train the Postal Inspection Service officers. I even had the opportunity to speak with a few of the veterans about what types of things they got involved with. These guys had some really cool stories about some serious crimes that they have investigated. Its not just stolen or forged stamps and people mailing contraband like I thought it would be. They take their jobs very seriously. If there is a letter that implies a threat, and that letter was sent in a manner which attempts to hide its origin, then they own this incident. It is a federal offense to use the US Postal Service to commit any crime. The author of that letter is in deep doo doo if these guys get their hands on him. Just sayin'...

I'll just bet Gary is sitting in some secret spot laughing his ass off right about now.

The title of this thread is "bright future" but I don't see it as many of the more valuable contributers tend to contribute less and less and are finding other, more congenial sites to help boaters out. Unless and until the people that bring absolutely no value to CSR are weeded out, the "bright" future looks more and more dim to me.
Just my $.02...fire away

Frank, is your smoking jacket made of Sunbrella?

Your antenna is flacid.

(sorry - just trying to fill in for Gary...)

I think he'll be back. I hope so. His wife has been "angry" for years, so what's one more straw?

Wow - I go away for Thanksgiving and come back to Drama Island.... Come back soon Gary.

Going look at my boat for a bit and wonder why it's pretty Monday through Friday and raining and windy every weekend.....

A site with only 5 or 6 people on it doesn't count  I'm sure your ratio of experts is the same as ours.

Here's praying you guys get an EARLY spring...
In the meantime, take up ice fishing.
Or something...

I don't know whether Gary posted his personal info or not...doesn't really matter, it's public record. If you own a documented vessel, it's all there. All you have to do is look it up. Punch the address into Google Earth, and you can look at the guy's house.

I changed my sig pic so it no longer shows my boat's name, and don't post the name of my boat on other forums. There's a lot of whack jobs out there...

Is it still called paranoia if they really are out to get you?

Kook you must be the "Man" there!

 I'm not a member of that site actually, I do know the owner/expert of the site, and thought it sort of fit the criteria of what Jim said a site with few members/experts would be like.
