We like to watch the tv in several different locations so all we have to do is tilt it back and walk it to where ever we want it...

We always lay it on the bunk if we are going any where and Jess has kicked it and it has always stayed put... Thanks for looking guys...

Cool! We just place it on the galley stove top. I really need to get a marine antenna, wire it to the radar arch and replace all the coax with new if I can figure out where the wired it. I have 2 antenna jacks and 1 switch box on the boat. So I do know the end points, but not sure if the switch box is for the cable interface / antenna that used to be on or between the 2 locations of the wall plate.

I also notice that on top of the cabinet your antenna wire is tucked down between the wall and the cabinet. You do not have a jack on the top for the coax? Mine does.

I took my old swim ladder off of the old platform before I pitched it in the dumpster, and it's very similar to the cockpit ladder, so I think some cutting/hacking/welding will eventually yield a cockpit ladder for me. I'll let you know how that goes. Truthfully, it wouldn't be hard at all to make one from scratch.

Hi every one been hard at work and have some new boat bling!

Really Happy with the season so far a few mishaps but all in all has been great. Hope everyone is enjoying it as much as I am...

Jason, I love those vents! Where did you get those? They look awesome!

Rob

Jason, I did have a few other questions. I'm in the process of buying a 1988 340 DA and was wondering if you could point me to an official thread for these boats? I read your thread and love the work you've done to Aftica. I read about the horn issue; is that a common problem in these boats? The one I'm buying has an aftermarket swim platform from Swim Platforms .com and it's awesome with the large swim platform.

We did the sea trial today and it ran out ok, but was really bow high. Have you noticed this? I'm sure the added weight of the swim platform doesn't help, but there's got to be more than that. These boats seem to sit low in the stern. I noticed some chatter about raising the bottom paint, but nothing on adding bow weight or more trim tabs.

Anything else you can tell me about these boats would be great. I have noticed that the galley is larger than bigger boats like the early 90s 350/370s and the bed in the master berth seems good size. Did you say it's a king size? I noticed you use "King Fish" chairs; how does that work for you?

It's a lot of questions, so thanks in advance,
Rob

Sure Rob,

The bow rise is common. What I do to correct this is to extend the trim tabs fully down before. I throttle up to hop on plane. Then when you reach your destination be sure to retract them.

We do have our own thread...

And this is a good one...

As for the bunk king size sheets don't fit the bed. It is an awesomely large bunk. I love the chairs on the back deck as well. Be sure to check the front port windows and the deck. Also the part where the arch attaches to. Be sure the arch is not toed out. If it is the wood is gone. Also check the side panels in the cockpit as they are prone to rot. Any thing else please ask... I LOVE THESE BOATS!

PS: I cruise at 26 to 28 RPM and about 18 to 20 knots with the tabs fully down. I have no visability issues!

OK guys, how have you been?

Finally received my stereo and got it installed. I chose the Fusion Marine MS-Av700. I absolutely love the sound this unit produces.

Here's the 1989 no brand CD player...

Nice SS bezel to make it look nice...

Now on to the amp and Subs! Stay tuned!

I love my 1988 340 DA. It does take some time to get used to the bow up, but as Jason said, full nose down on the trim tabs. I also notice that it is not so bow once you are in salt water. Even with the swim Platform inc extended platform, my boat sits about 3 inches higher in salt water versus fresh water.

Jason, how is your new job?

Jason: your work on Aftica is amazing! It's unreal what you have done and all of it looks soo sooo sooo good!!
Damn I wish I had your skills haha
She Is a beautiful boat and through all your hard work is also exceptional!
How do you know how to do all of this?
I have followed your thread along for the last few months watching all the great stuff you have done :)
You ROCK Jason wanna come to Australia and help me fix mine up lol
I am so getting the vents you got hahahha

James, I'm doing great and I wish I would have switched long ago. Did you get your teak varnished?

Rob, hey man good to hear from you. I can't really explain how I am able to do this stuff. I just think about it for awhile and how I could do it an Viola its done. I am a jack of all trades and a master of none. Thanks for the compliments on Aftica. I love my boat. I got my winter lay up papers today. I can't freaking believe it. 2 more months and its back to sleep with her. Ask away at any ideas you have Rob I'm sure we can come up with something. Take care my friend!

Making a jump on jobs can be a scary thing, but it works more often than it does not. I am glad you like your new job.

Actually Jason I have been doing all the wood trim on the boat. The bow has 5 layers of the tung oil, 2 layers of the varnish. This weekend will be sanding it down a little to get the smooth surface then coat with the last 2 of varnish. The stern was done before it hit the water. That is just amazing. Even the dog with his claws have not hurt the finish. The helm and the cabin door only has a few coats of the tung oil on it. I am trying not to work on the boat as much right now to ensure that I spend some family time.

I also have found that the last job really messed me up since I don't know how to relax any more. I am trying to just chill. I have put some hours on the boat and about $700 in gas so far.

Jason:if anyone would know this it would be you!! I just got a really nice big circular teak wood table. It's weathered but in great condition. The wood has gone white etc. what is the best way for me to recondition this?? Use a wood cleaner? Sand it down first. I know teak is done differently than other woods you don't varnish and stain it right but oil it?? As you can see impretty clueless lol
Only two months left, you need to boat it up Jason just pack her with supplies head out and come in back two months lol you are dreading two months from now when you put your boat away for the winter and I can't wait for two months from now so it gets nice and warm here :)
