1989 340 DA Refit... Take a look

I just put a coat of 75/25 on it. Believe it or not it drank it in again!

Whoa man, it was thirsty then... It looks great so far... Just wait till you put the first coat of captains varnish on it. It gets golden grains that shimmer in the sun light. It really is pretty stuff...

Jason, well I am done with the tung oil. It has a nice uniform coat over it. Tomorrow I am picking up the varnish to start those layers. I guess I am going to do the teak around the stern of the boat. This weekend is all out on the boat early starts and late finishes. I have enough projects that can be completed without the temps rising.

James that looks awesome... couple questions are you coating both sides? What did you decide to do about the plugs?

Hang tough the varnish will go quicker for you now all the wood is saturated... I'm excited to read your reaction after the first few coats of varnish... I love the look when its done...

Yea, I am doing both sides, but I am not fussy on the bottom. Both have the same amount of coats, but there are a few drips that I am not going to worry about. Once they get good and hard, I will file them off before I start the varnish. The plugs I am going to insert teak ones, cut to get below the surface of the wood, then fill the holes first with tung oil, then leave some room to drop varnish in the holes. Then give 1 complete coat across the top.

Good, being free standing you want to seal the whole piece. It looks wonderful so far the grains have really come to life... I never worrited about drips on the underside either.

Jason, for my boat, the stain that I got from Minwax matches perfectly for the interior trim. It is the Pecan Satin and it is stain and Polyurethane in one can. The piece that I broke came out perfect. I just started the varnish tonight. It will be a couple of days before I can get to the next coat.

James good to know about the stain. A few days will be good as I'm sure the temps are low. Were you able to see the grains shine through after your first varnish coat?

OK, guys steps are finished...

I'm going to try and steal away to the boat tomorrow since it has been so nice. I'm not going to take off the shrink wrap just yet but I may cut an access. Hope everyone is well and thanks for looking.

That's all for now, I am going to be back full time in a few weeks, (can't wait) so I'll be busy cleaning and polishing again. We had a surprising amount of dirt this year. Not sure why I guess the strong winds and what not. Oh well nothing some boat soap and a brush won't handle. Here's to you guys thanks for looking!

So I found some interesting news this past weekend. The ladder I got off of an EC was almost 3" taller then my current ladder... it wouldn't fit....

I was bumbed at first.

I think I can mod them to make them work but man... nothing is easy!
