Who owns the fastest Sea Ray

Personal experience but not an owner.
Those of you that have been around the Sea Ray brand for a while may remember the 630 SSS. It was a boat sold in the 1990's and in factory form had the Detroit 12V92's but some spec'd out with the big MTU's and I understand some with Rolls Royce; keep me straight on this @Capt. Rusty Higgins . For the most part they were the "rage" of the rich and famous and many were custom built at the SR Sikes Creek plant for the owners. They built them with straight drives, Arneson Surface Drives and some with KaMeWa jet drives. I have a friend who was one of the SR delivery captains in the early 90's (not Rusty my other good captain friend) and we had many opportunities to run those boats. Bad to the bone for a boat in the 90's is an understatement; I've personally been at the wheel at 50 knots in one of these big boats optioned with the bigger engine and surface drives. I don't know what they weigh but definitely in the 90000 pound class.... This boat wins!

The 630 DA had the surface drives because of the aft cabin where the SSS had straight shaft drives. The surface drive boats where amazing to watch run. Stand back when they dock as in reverse if you are near you will get wet.

Actually the SSS were customized with several drive and engine variations... One interesting mod was the owner had a leash tie installed by SR on that big round sunpad for his pet tiger..... That I never saw but was told about.

I went for a ride on one on a cold spring day in April on Lake Michigan. The boat was brand new and it had just a little canvas up over the cockpit with some isinglass on both sides of the helm. I remember it was tough to handle in tight spaces because it did not back up very well or turn easily with surface dives. Once you got it going forward everything smoothed out. We went for a ride and it was very quiet and the helm was warm on a chilly day. There was little sensation of speed but we were moving right along at a good clip. Great experience and it handled the big water well. SR was a different company back in those days.

I do.

Went from 400 gallons to 75 gallons in 4.3 hrs this weekend! ;)

However the 630DA is one cool boat ! I have been eyeing a pechanga that I know her in slc that could be bought . It needs a total redo but would be a great boat when done.
