It's probably going to be someone with a Pachanga. But who knows..............SeaRay Jim has a 2000 240SD with a 540 CI big block that will go over 65 mph. :wow:

Post up your boat information and your top end.

I know who owned the fastest 240 SD with a 5.0 MPI.................................

I love SeaRay Jim's boat (that's immediately who I thought of when I saw this thread); his YouTube video's of the boat and the engine are exciting...

My 250 DA and 300 DA have BOTH been over 65 mph! Piece of cake! They are usually about 3 feet in the air when they do it too! I have verified that speed with GPS by the way!

I do.
My Sea Ray is pulled with a 400 HP Cummins turbo diesel with a 8 sp manual trans.
I also get the best MPG. The engines out now. Even with a good set of oars, I burn no fuel.
And no, Its not for sale:lol::smt043

There is an early Pachanga with blown 540CID big block Chevrolets that was owned by a guy in the Montgomery AL area. A friend of mine blue printed and painted the hull. They took the boat out several times in the process......it ran consistently between 95 and 97 mph, but they could never get the bottom clean enough to break 100.

I haven't seen the boat in about 10 years, but back then it was a treat to just hear the blower motors idle which was about 2000 rpm.

I must be in the running for a stock model with twin 350 mags. I haven't had her WOT, but did get around 49 with plenty left in the throttles.

51.9mph by GPS with twin 350's.

And WHY NOT?!! Report back asap and tell us your WOT speed. Sheesh... :smt001

Paul, the owner or SS3, had a 38SS that ran close to 70, and his current boat, a 31SS, runs about 60.

those are not pachanga hulls so thats pretty darn good for stock 500hp and 540hp mercruisers

70 MPH on GPS 1987 22' Pachanga with stock 454 ci and Bravo drive.

I think you will be surprised how little speed improvement you see with those last few throttle notches. . . .

. . I've seen that speed with my boat -> and it has smaller engines.

hello ive had 73mph on gps with our pachanga 27 1990 with twin 454 mercruisers. Will post pictures of boat when i get time.

Mine goes 60, I'm not sure why smartcraft is goofed up because it reads GPH instead of MPH. Oh wait, nevermind.........

Why is it when I go WOT, I have the urge to open my wallet and throw five dollar bills over the side every minute?

It's not as painful if you throw them all at one every hour.

Our 1976 SRV 195 has seen about 56 mph with the 233 HP 351 Ford. I think that is right, it was a long time ago.

There are a handful of DA's out there running arneson surface drives. Its a shame sea ray wont offer them on some of their models......im sure it would require some r&d on the hull, but would sure be nice to compete with baia and pershing and cruise at 45mph in a 500DA tossing an 60 foot rooster tail.
