Wakeboarding threag

Another nice video Bill, also watched a few others. Your wifes second video looks like she is making real good progress
You seem to be getting those surface spins down real well. Hopefully its not your last time out this year, for some reason I think it wont be

Few questions. What speed are you being pulled at and what length of rope are you using. Also, are you taking the fins off your board? I finally got my wife up many times on the board, just keeping her up for any length of time is our next goal. I boarded a few times last weekend, but didnt push it much. Mostly practiced surface tricks and did a few small jumps. Hopefully we'll get to go again before it gets too cold.
Thanks!
She is definitely getting better. Her and I went out alone last week, so couldnt tape, but she is now doing little jumps on the wakes and going toeside well.

I WANT to go out again, but we shall see. Crappy weekend weather ahead, and Im winterizing the boat next week, earlier than I thought I would.

The rope length is 60' right now. I plan on going 65' next year.
I am going at around 21 mph I believe? Maybe 20.
And definitely...no fins! I took them off my board a few weeks ago and like it so much better! The first run was a little slippery, but got used to it quickly and it allows for more surface air and I think better landings.

Have your wife go slow...I think I pull Amy around 14 mph or so. Have her just carve back and forth...from there her confidence will grow.

And have fun! Glad to hear you got back on the board!

I figured you were using a shorter rope. We've been using a 70' rope, makes it alot harder to go w2w but you sure can get some speed up at that length.. I was pulling my wife at 16mph and she pulls me at 20mpg GPS.
I took the fins off my board and it was very slippery and I couldnt get used to it so I put the back fin back on. I'll probably take it back off next time though and try it again. Ive been doing the slides and riding switch some but havent tried the 180 yet.

Hope your weather improves and you get another trip out before you winterize. We most likely wont winterize until january if at all.

I like the length now more or less because thats where the sweet spot in the wake seemed to be most of the time without doing any trim work, easy to drive that way for anyone.

With the rope longer next year, I should really be able to get some serious air and distance, and yet be able to control the board well enough by then to go for some crazy stuff! lol

At the end of that day we taped, when we were out of tape, I tried some backrolls. Got a decent amount around. Again with the longer rope, should be able to start pulling that off eventually.

I like my fins off now so much, and wouldnt go back. Give it a full day...it really makes the riding easier, believe it or not. You will also really learn a hard edge...watch "the book" again on edging...what they said made a lot of sense now that I feel it.

I hope it improves too, thanks!

However, there is a ticking in my engine now...everyone seems to think lifter. So thinking about it, I may not put any more stress on the engine, and go get it all tuned up, lubed, greased, aligned and everything else anyway...might as well them put it to sleep.

Thats ok...another 6 weeks is snow-sports season :smt038

By the way, look what I won my wife for her bday (her board was the first present). It is autographed by all the top women riders. She is into this sport now pretty well, and actually knows some of the rider's names

I had the same thing in my 240 last year. I was 100% sure it was a lifter. Turned out to be a blown gasket on the starboard exhaust manifold. 20 minute fix. FYI.

Oh, ok thanks. Hard to tell as so many of the top engine noises sound the same to me.

They will look and repair when the boat is in, I would assume covered under the warranty.

Mine was a warranty repair.

I agree about the sounds. It took someone who had been around boats for 40 years to pinpoint the problem. But once I put my head in the engine comartment and listened to where the sound was coming from, it was obvious. It is amazing how much it sounded like metal on metal though.

The wife and I went to a small powerplant lake today, only 20 min from the house. Water was very warm (90) and we just about had the lake to ourselves. She finally got up and stayed up several times :smt038 One time she gets up regular, the next goofy footed, but she rides equally as well both ways. (wish I could) My leg held up well and I took the fins off and did pretty well with it. Got some good jumps in and tried a couple of times to do a grab and promptly wiped out lol Looks like we'll be going again this week unless we get a cold front.

Your post is glowing!

So awesome! Very cool. Most important, is she enjoying this? Does she have her own board? Cant remember if you said she did or not.

How is the leg doing for ya when riding?

Great she can goofy that easily. Some people have great difficulty, some it just comes natural.

WHERE ARE THE PICS???

lol...

She really enjoys it, especially since she stays up now LOL
I bought her a board a couple of months ago and some pretty bindings as well. So she has her own setup and likes it too.

My leg did really well, I didnt get crazy, did alot of small jumps and took it easy. Really only wiped out when I was trying to do grabs. Worked on riding switch and just tried getting used to my board without the fins. (very slippery)

No pics, it was just her and I :smt021

Nice! Yea, my wife is MUCH happier with her own board, and now she can just get used to it.

Stick to having the fins off...it will pay off later for sure! I wont go back to the fins now that I feel the difference.

Seasons over for us :-( Time to break out the snowboard and skis now!! :smt001

Cool! I did want to try that, but our lake does not allow airborne towables :-(

Hey everybody... great vids and pics... looking forward to sharing some from this summer with everybody.

I'm already pumped up about getting the board out this year. As soon as i get the boat back together I'm thinking about breaking out the wet suit!

I just spent the entire afternoon watching youtube videos on wakeboarding... and then I get an e-mail that I don't get to take delivery of the new ride until the last week in April. This waiting game is killing me! I have a new board that's just staring at me.

I just traded in my 2001 Super Air Nautique for a SeaRay 290 Bowrider. I hope I don't have to give up wakeboarding with this boat. Not really doing much advanced, just 180's wake to wake and an occasional 360. Anybody ever board behind a 290? I have the single 496. I just took delivery yesterday and haven't had it out trying to maintain a 20mph run yet. Also we just took up wakesurfing a few years ago, anybody try that behind a 290BR? The Super Air just wasn't going to be safe on the Lake of the Ozarks on weekends.

Thanks!

I'd be willing to bed that wakesurfing would be pretty fun behind a 29 foot boat. As for wakeboarding i don't know. Is the wake really wide?
