Too hot to go boating?

"I hope I can get my boat working before the snow comes again... Boy, thank God for Obama and those high gas prices... I would be really mad if I could not boat and gas was cheap..."

Watch that Rod, the last time I checked you still work for HIM!!!!

I'm seconding our great weather in the Buffalo / Niagara area. With the wet, cold spring we had and a month of travel I just finished, Two Peas is only going in the water now. Hopefully I'm getting back in the wet at the best time of the summer...

I've got lots of catching up to do... haven't even been to CSR in a while!

I guess I will jump in and third it here about our Buffalo weather. It doesn't last that long so I will take any sunny warm day that comes along. I am on the Lake Ontario side also, so I know how too how the lake flips as well. It can be eye opening. :)

I say all summer long that it can't get hot enough for me. I can't stand riding up the elevator at work with people bitching about the heat. Then in the winter bitching about the cold. I always get funny stares when it's like today (97) and I say I love it. Now walking around downtown with a suit on can really suck but to boat??? Feels great. Screw winter.

I'm with ya! I think I was the only one on the drive home from work today with my arm hangin' out the window. :smt001 (and temp read 98F). Granted, it was getting hot at the stop lights, but the breeze still felt good.

But get this timing: Just last weekend, the sea nettles (jellyfish) moved in to to our area on the Potomac River. Great! Now all that water, and no where to play, in this hot and humid weather. Sucks big time.

In any case, I'm thinking of buying one of these tonight for the helm and cockpit area: Lasko Pro Performance Blower Fan, 4900. Previous owner had one and while we were sitting on the boat before purchase with him, it was awesome. Moves a ton of air and is very quiet. I just wish I could have it here by tomorrow afternoon!

I'm going tomorrow, bringing my boat from Annapolis to the C&D Canal. Doubt the ride will be too bad but once we get to the marina, around noon-2, I bet it will be very hot on the docks. I'm sweating already thinking about putting the cockpit canvas on!

Mid 70's to high 80's here with no humidity. I'm headed to Catalina tomorrow for 3 days on the boat. I love this weather.

Anybody that doesn't go boating because it is hot has just lost any creditabilty they may have had as being a boater. Either strap on a set and go boating or stay home and rearrange your sock drawer. We wouldn't want you breaking a nail or something while handling the front lines........if you even know how to handle the front lines. You guys are probably the same ones that b!tch when it is chilly, don't anchor out overnight, raft off with other boaters, stay at the dock when the breeze is over 10 mph or a 20% chance of showers.......In addition to having your boating license revoked, turn in you man card on the way out.

MAYBE this question should be posted as
"if you don't have a/c on your boat is it to hot to go boating"
LOL

Very well said, and it's coming from a guy who boats in Baltimore, which could be the hottest, muggiest, swampiest summer environment on the East Coast!
AMEN!

Ok..After getting all the heat from people on this board, I took your advice, strapped on a pair, and took the boat out last night. Didn't see alot of boats out. I took a ride over to "F-cove" and there were only 3 boats and 1 jet ski hanging out. This is what it looked like on the 4th of July. There must have been alot of sock drawer organizing going on last night.

If my boat doesn't melt today, I will go back out this afternoon.

Vince,

We (the true boaters on this forum) are proud of you, wasn't to bad now was it..........take a dip, crack a cold one, take a dip, crack a cold one, repeat.

Oh, and Ron, you are right about summer in Baltimore

Ok, that advice is all well and good, but...what about the Admiral? She doesn't have a set, no man card, and has nails. But she does know how to handle the dock lines.

If she says we no go, well... When I told her we had to go because of the consensus on this thread, she told me to "have fun".

Tell the Admiral to take a dip, drink a cold one, take and dip and drink a cold one. Repeat this until the heat doesn't bother her anymore.
