Too hot to go boating?

for months the northern boaters on this site complained how cold it was and they were ready for summer so they could boat and now your complaining about how hot it is? Pull your panties up, start those motors and get out there and enjoy. Before you know it it will -5 deg up there and you will regret not going out on those hot days.

amen!!!

Where we live it doesn't get too hot to boat, It's 90 degrees out right now.
Buffalo has never officially hit 100, (thank you, lake Erie breezes).
The Lake is 77...Perfect!
Because the lake is shallow, it doesn't "upwell" like lake ontario, that's when the cold water from the bottom floats to the top ( see temps below). So we can swim all summer. If you boat on Lake ontario, you definitely have to stick a toe in the water first before you jump off the swim platform or you could be in for a frosty awakening! :wow: In a few days, that will be a totally different temperature, as lake Ontario "flips" around

You won't see the weather channel here though, reporting on how nice it is, and how the lake breezes help control the heat....they only show up in January when we're getting blasted with lake effect snow.

Now if we could just figure out how to get this weather to last more than 2 months :smt021

I'm seconding our great weather in the Buffalo / Niagara area. With the wet, cold spring we had and a month of travel I just finished, Two Peas is only going in the water now. Hopefully I'm getting back in the wet at the best time of the summer...

I've got lots of catching up to do... haven't even been to CSR in a while!

98f ...clear sunny skies...120f+ heat indexes
hell yeah it's too hot
we are about to switch to the Kelvin scale

I am a fat guy anyway, so it's just simply bad when this happenes. Lol! the temp read-out in the engine compartment is 120-130 at times when I get back froma trip.....

Is this you Lucy Liu is talking to at 0:12?

Summer will be over before you get one!

Sometimes I wonder why you guys up north even have boats. In the winter its too cold for boating and in the summer its too hot.

Heat factor here this afternoon is forecast to be 115 and I just got back from sea trialing a boat for a guy in Nashville. It was hot on his bridge, but so what.......I didn't melt and got to go boating! (with OPF at that!)

Guess it doesn't matter in my case anyway...stuck at work LOL

Oh yes it can

Break time. It's been over 95 degrees for the last couple days. It's supposed to be near 100 today. I'll stay home in the good old AC. The humidity is the killer here. It's terrible right now, you walk out the front door and it just slaps you in the face. :wow:

I will be begging for this weather when we get blasted with 2 feet of snow every other week for 2 months!!!

I find that hand coolers work wonders . . I think they are made by several companies . . . my fovorite is Miller Lite.

I hope I can get my boat working before the snow comes again... Boy, thank God for Obama and those high gas prices... I would be really mad if I could not boat and gas was cheap...

Way to hot today. I stopped down at the boat a few hours ago. The breeze was blowing off of the bay, but it was still really hot and humid. I turned the AC on in the cabin to cool it down, but it was brutal as soon as I stepped outside.
We have to go down to a Sailing thing with my kids tonight, but right after that it's home to the pool, central AC, big screen Plasma, and King Sized Bed for me.
Why fight it if you don't have to?

I say all summer long that it can't get hot enough for me. I can't stand riding up the elevator at work with people bitching about the heat. Then in the winter bitching about the cold. I always get funny stares when it's like today (97) and I say I love it. Now walking around downtown with a suit on can really suck but to boat??? Feels great. Screw winter.

Ron,
I couldn't agree with you more. As I look at my shop I and sweat and swat mosquitoes I do remember the huge piles of snow that were here not that long ago.
