The heat index is going to be over 100 this weekend. At no wake speed, I am going to melt driving the boat.

Is this what boating is like in Florida?

Typically, we get sea breezes off the water to stir the air up, which helps a little. Also, you do somewhat adjust to it - I remember being in DC one year when it was in the mid - 90's and there were misting stations set up, first aid stations, etc. I was barely breaking a sweat.

This is the time of year you jump in the water, have a cool beverage, and use that generator to keep the air going!

Not here..... I leave on vacation tomorrow and we've had cold and wet winter, spring and this early summer. I think I'm lucking out planning to take this upcoming week.

Now way, This is when you get to go swimming without freezing to death.

Never too hot to go boating... Just stop every once in a while to take a dip!

Can you AC unit maintain 72 up on the bridge when it gets over 100?

Pretty much... I had this conversation at dinner last night with Greg (Lady TAZ) and his experience is the same... I usually have it set around 75 and it keeps it there on 100 degree days. The bridge has two air handlers on it...

Yup! It's not bad til the afternoon and you have been playing all day. The trip back to the ramp is brutal as the sun is on my side all the way back as I head south. I have spring clips and attach towels to the bimini to shade the sun and that's not bad.

I'm seriously considering postponing Fridays boating trip due to the heat index being 110+. At planing speeds might be OK but no wake and being at the marina might be too much.

I am skipping boating until next week. Our heat index is in the 110-116 degree area until late Sunday (DC area). The actual temps are around 100, but the index with the humidity makes it feel 110-116. I can't do the humidity. It kills me.....

All of you should have your boating licenses revoked.

That is impressive. When conditions are right, driving my boat at no wake speeds feels like I am up the attic in my house. I dread to think what it would be like, if I had an emergency and needed to do anything in the engine room.

We've got an aft curtain up right now that is taking full sun. Cockpit temp is in low 70's. Will take the curtain down when the sun gets over the hardtop and turn the a/c off. There is a good breeze that should make the area comfortable. Temps are predicted to be in the mid 90s today. Yesterday we ran the air all day. Even the shade was too hot to tolerate.

Kinda funny how all the guys with AC on their bridges are talking so tough... ;-) To put it simply, it is just not fun having a 100+ degree heater in your face. I have had to go into the engiine room on multiple occasions after returning from hot trips to adjust a stuffing box, change a fuel filter or perform other maintenance. It's not fun. I am a fat guy anyway, so it's just simply bad when this happenes. Lol! the temp read-out in the engine compartment is 120-130 at times when I get back froma trip.....

The "Capn" started the conversation at dinner last night with "it's going to be 115 with the heat index".. looks like a late night ceuse to me !!
I would like to go to "Live on the Levee" but I don't think she be up to it !!!
