The Official 450 Express Bridge Owners Club

I just happen to be on the boat tonight to clean the sump and do some prep for this weekend. Here is our flooring installed by the third owner (we are the fifth). The trim is flush with the floor.

Now THAT is how mine should have been done! Really professional fit n finish. I have this 1/2" gap around the hatch perimeter covered by the glue down edge molding. A lame finish detail not thought through. But, does give me another idea of molding tacked to the vertical sides of the hatch. Problem is if my molding is also covering a lousy edge of the flooring and untrue dimensionally. Thanks for the pics!!

When I first saw the interior floors on our boat I put an offer in immediately. The broker told me the third owner spent 11k on it. :)

Yowza! Perhaps mine were similar. I still have carpet in the three staterooms...sadly.

Yeah, the trim on Jim's boat is well done.

I think Jack could recreate.

Cut back on a straight line and then get trim that is thick enough to fill the gap and stain to match.

Lot cheaper too than SS hatch trim!!

Nice day on the boat to start the weekend. We had a little fog this morning that delayed our departure. Bought fuel for the first time since December. $4.80 a gallon. Flags and lights on the Casino are yellow and blue. Spring boating is good!

Now targeting 1Apr (yeah, it's funny) to get the boat back in the water for a total of 31 days on the hard.

Stripes finally came off yesterday and supposed to go back on tomorrow. Props are still getting re-pitched.

The return trip today was fairly uneventful. Nice morning on the cockpit to start.

I did all of my normal pre-checks and everything looked normal. We headed out and ended up side by side with an Aquila 44.

After 25 miles I slowed down to crawl in the engine room to open the black water valve and there was a lot of engine oil on the floor near the Reverso. No pictures of the f-up. I figured out I must have opened one of the valves and even with the cap on, I lost oil. I’m guessing less than a quart, but it sure looks like a lot on the floor. I won’t do that again. o_O

I've accidentally caught one of those valves before, easy to do. I can imagine the mess.

Excuse my ignorance, what's a Reverso? And what valve allowed oil escape?

Oil change system. I think most of us have a 5 channel system.

Each valve corresponds to an oil sump. [2x mains, 2x transmission 1x gen).

Mine is on the inboard starboard stringer. There are 5 valves and they all need to be closed during normal operation. In my case, only my Phasor getn has it's own shut-off valve at the oil pan. For the other 4 channels the Reverso is an extension of the oil reservoir.

Same location as my oil change system, thanks for the response! Open hose end found leaking early on ownership with a nice puddle developed.

Same location on my boat which is #6. I wonder if that is the case with a 2004 boat at the end of the run? I have had a drip or two come out of the Reverso so I have a “diaper” under it just in case. That sure helped with the cleanup with my f-up. I used about 3 of the magic white towels in addition to the diaper under the Reverso along with some Simple Green to get it back. I’m glad I’m not the only one who has gone through this.

Stripes are on, and I will be getting a 4th coat of bottom paint on my sides as the stripe guys chemicals ate up the bottom paint.

Really glad I had the ones under the swim platform added. I did not like that empty white space.

The paint and the boot stripes look fantastic! It will be stunning with the new canvas.
Any idea what chemical was used on the stripes to affect the bottom paint? Maybe acetone to prep the fiberglass?

Thx! Agreed, can't wait for the canvas to show up.

He claims just denatured alcohol, but I would guess acetone with that much running in the color.

Prop shop is finally working my props. Pitched at 26, coming back to 23.5 to hit my target of 2650 RPM. First words out of his mouth, "Don't know who tuned these last, but they are f***ed up, primaries and spares. These are great props, but somrone did some bad work on them." So, spares will remain as is and back under the hallway floor and I may get them done next season.
Primaries will be be re-pitched and tuned, so hopeful I will see a big difference.

If the the props come back Weds/Thurs, I go back in the water Friday!

Friday, great! My yard last year called that "Splash" on their schedule. Paint & stripes look great. I should likewise tune my props next lift out. And replace Cutlass bearings. Check em if not already for yours.

My cutlass bearings are good, checked them first thing when we came out. Actually, on the edge of being too tight according to the yard.

Well, looks like launch tomorrow.

Everything is finished.

Can't wait to try out the props! Have to get the report. I know they repitched and looks like some cup was added along with Propspeed.

Put Lightspeed and Foulfree on this afternoon.

I think my starboard battery disconnect switch is internally corroded. Discovered this while I was rewiring the underwater lights because the relay started chattering. Had 12.45 VDC at the batt and then only 11.99 VDC at the baterry tie. Pulled the panel under the stairs and voltage is dropping across the disconnect switch. Adding to the project list.

Did discover why black bottom paint is good. Ran my gen for a out 30 mins because I couldn't plug in and wanted to top up the batts (12.4 VDC number from above). Not sure why I didn't think of this issue (last pic).
