My boat has vinyl or fabric covered foam backed inserts on the sides through out the cabin. These also insulate to some degree. Most have hidden clips to retain them. Vinyl ceiling or headliner. It was reupholstered about two years ago. The P.O. said about 7 grand! Actually pretty reasonable considering the amount of time and material.
Even though we are having a very deep hot humid spell there is no mold. I have lots of mold killer buckets all over plus the AC runs 24/7. I’m in my second week of live aboard.

Does anyone have experience with chalk paint? After a little research it seems like a great alternative to replacing the fabric, which is very expensive. The process is easy and seems to color the fabric rather well. Let me know your thoughts.

What size wrench do I need to adjust the prop shaft stuffing boxes? I cant get an adjustable wrench in there. Are they the same size as the rudder shaft? Its on a 86 Sundance 340 with vdrives.

Most use a large pipe wrench or adjustable spanner wrench.

    Hello
I am looking for some ideas on my 89 340 EC, looking to get all of your input on mounting a tv in the cabin. Currently we don’t have the tv mounted and it’s a pain moving it around.
The one idea I had was using an arm type mount and anchoring it to the wall between the kitchen and bedroom on the starboard side.
Thanks in advance for your time!

this is a pic of the prior owner of of our 340 sundancer alongside the tv. Obviously, to locate it there, you’ll be limited in size or any serious chop you go through may seriously strain the mount and/or tv.

While I don’t have a Sea Ray I have a similar Silverton express. It’s a footvwider than the sea ray. My small flat screen is mounted in the bulkhead between the aft state room and cabin. It’s on a fold out mount. I don’t watch tv so don’t use it it works but I have too many other things to deal with. Like it’s -15 deg f right now and -35to -40 deg wind chill. I live aboard . I’m frozen in the slip. On the way to get a chain saw to cut the ice. It’s too hard to chop. Neighbor fell in last week. Water temp is 32-33 deg f luck his friend was near by and helped him out. We had been talking about the dangers of cold water about a month ago. The docks are very slippery with the slightest snow fall. So far this winter has been unusually mild. This is the coldest it’s bee. Looks like a full week of well below 0 and up to a foot of blowing snow. Two more months to go. We can get lots of snow but should start warming in March. Pump out due next Friday. I don’t envy those guys. They run up and down the docks with the big hoses. I have to add some rc antifreeze to the holding tank. I’ll have to do spring cleaning about evert two days on the holding tank. They closed the bath and laundry house this winter as there aren’t as many live aboards this year. I go to the YMCA for showers and laundromat for washing clothes. A little inconvenient but necessary in the winter. I have a
An injured foot boot so slippery conditions are much harder. Can’t wait for spring. We get some serious flooding in April. Record duration last year.

Thanks for quick reply Monty! That’s almost exactly the location I was thinking, only thing I was concerned about was exactly as you mentioned with heavy chop straining tv/mount. I had thought I may be able to use some short lag bolts to go into that divider but not sure if that would be enough bite to hold good l.

It would probably be ok. Somewhat determined by the typ and thickness of wood. Try and find out what is behind the wall. Mine is full of wiring. I don’t know how they cut the hole with out issues. Mine is 3/4” plywood. It’s some tough stuff too. The cabin seat bases are all oak glued screwed and nailed together. It took me a whole day to cut the top of a seat base off so I could install the new AC UNIT. no reason to build like this. It must have been a huge expense.

We had an '89 340da for about 4 years. we didn't watch much tv on board and when we did we did not like sitting in the dinette to do it. I made a mount for a flat screen and put in the berth area where the original little 13" TV/VCR combo sat. It was more comfortable for us to lay on the bed and watch than to sit up in the dinette.

Yeah I think there is a couple boards laminated together that make that. Pretty sure a 3/4 lag bolt would go in and not come through the other side.

Thanks NorCal! Yeah we don’t use it a ton, but would be nice to have it mounted and out of the way for those rainy days etc. the dinette is a huge issue for us as well it is so small and I’m really tall so makes pretty hard to get into it. I’ve got some long term plans of changing it around I’ve seen some great ideas in this thread way back.

Alex Heber, here’s better pics of how the tv is mounted on Family Time. It’s how we bought it.

Hello folks I’m back in Daytona Beach on lovely “Snowbird” she dodged the Dorian bullet and the only problem was a torn fender never had one like this before but have replaced and all ok.
Tell me how much bleach I should put in my water tank after draining it before I refill. I have drained it twice and hopefully this second filling will do the trick. I left last May 8th with a fresh full tank and am ready to go just can’t remember how much I thought it was a half a cup.

Thanks again Monty! Great info, I’ll be mounting mine very similar. Will post some pics once I get to it in the spring.
