Report All Upgrade Issues Here

When the other boating site upgraded to this new version of vBulletin

A lot of people had to switch to Firefox browser to get it to work sometimes vBulletin doesn't like IE.

I'm running Firefox with no problems at all.. Wow this site is fast !!. :smt038

Just trying to help. :smt001

That is pretty sad since most of the world uses IE. This is a recreational site for promotional purposes. It should be compatible with everything including the recent versions of the most used internet interfaces. Many professional business software systems must run certain versions of IE as it is cost prohibitive to update for each upgrade of IE for productivity software systems. Some update every other version to save money as we do and are waiting for IE9 compatibility issues to be resolved. To make this site non-backward compatible seems to contradict the mission here to promote BOE Marine to as many visitors as possible, not just certain browser users. We make our sites available to all browsers. MM

One thing I’ve noticed is that you don’t see quick links, new posts-24 hours, new posts-48,all the time, can this be changed?

Click on FORUMS and you will now see these Quicklinks across the top of your screen. I am still trying to find the search window.

I noticed that, it would be nice if it was on the same page.

The search is below the Boat- top right

The upgrade is not possible for all users as other productivity software conflicts may come into play. I have updated my comments above. It should be backward compatible too IE7.

Gotcha

How come posts within a thread no longer diplay date and time the post was submitted? Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but I really didn't want to go back through all of the posts in this thread.(Crap, I just saw Quint4's post about this.... is there an answer?)

I've tried IE8 and Mozilla Firefox, the results are the same. When I click on saved links I just get "...you don't have permission to access this page...". What am I missing here?

I can't change url since it lands on a very different one compare to origin. The biggest concern is with 1000s of bookmarks that I have in my library are no longer work.

Any ideas?

They apparently changed the URL syntax. You need to edit your saved links and take out "forum/" from the URL and it will convert to the new syntax.

Here's an example for the official 280 thread:

OLD:

NEW:
http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php?t=10064

Hope that helps....

I understand that the new syntax is an issue. I just can't believe that new software doesn't handle/convert it. My bookmarks is a small issue compare to the global issue across the board where every link within any thread is now busted. For example I'm looking at a thread A and a member says we've had a good discussion in a thread B "HERE..." and provides the link. This means that all those are gone.

There must be a way to fix the issue globally for everyone and shouldn't be handled at the user level.

Do you have any tips of a quick way to do a global property change for all of my bookmark files? I don't think it should get to the point where I have to write program to do this. Man, that's some upgrade....ha?

Private message notifications don't go away after I read them, each time I open the site I get the prompt telling me I have unread messages even after I've read them.

Because technology is supposed to make things better not worse and many of us seem to have created directories of frequently discussed topics and that would take a lot of time to recreate. Also the point about broken links in posts made on the old system may run in the thousands to change.

The issue of broken links in existing posts is a pretty big problem that I hope they fix....not only for us but for Jim too. Those broken links can screw up his search engine results. For example, when Google indexes CSR it will eventually disregard all of the threads with broken links. That means less traffic for CSR and it makes it harder for new people to find us.

why can't you just create a new link? I got the same error. deleted the link button and created a new on and it works fine.

If it was just one link I would just fix it. The problem is on much bigger scale.

That is exactly what I'm talking about.
