Internet forums act the way Internet forums act. You cannot control the outcomes. Therefore, if your skin is so thin that you are offended by an Internet forum, then maybe an Internet forum isn't the best place to hang out.

I don't hang out in bars because some of the behavior that goes on there offends me.
I don't shop at Home Depot because some of the employees there offend me.
I don't shop at Food Lion because I don't get the warm fuzzies from the staff.

So, to show up on an Internet forum and then complain about the forum is only setting yourself up for disappointment. The Internet forum is not going to change because you show up, don't like what you see or hear and then cry about it.

Make sense?

Not really fond of snakes either, but I have a strong belief that ALL creatures have the right to life. JD was born in captivity and was never going to live free, so after YEARS of Rick saying he wanted a snake, well I gave up and in. I am VERY FOND of JD, but after 5 years of living with him, he too is like Ko-Jac, odd but still all part of the family. Fortunately JD is MUCH easier to care and provide for and doesnt mind us leaving him alone 3 or 4 days at a time. And if we are gone longer my son just comes over and checks on him.
 
Our snake is not a water snake, he does not go on the boat with us. What in the world would our snake have to do with anything you could or would want to poke fun at? SICK SICK SICK! What is even sicker is that YOU of all people I cant put on my ignore list. THAT IS JUST WRONG!

You guys have to realize that for all the wacky stuff we've seen and heard on CSR over the last few years, pigs and snakes are just not heard of. This is new and unique. I doubt we'll hear of another boater doing this. The other thing is that it's so random it's funny, which is why you're experiencing the ribbing and jokes. By taking offense to these comments it comes of(at least to me) like you feel this request for your passion is normal. I'm all for doing what you want to do on your boat. The request for help finding a way to hoist or transfer the animal from the dock to deck of your boat is interesting, but not normal or simple. Many boaters have dogs that weigh that much, but are more agile than a pig and can maneuver to get aboard. A hooved(hoofed?) animal just doesn't seem to belong and to be honest seems dangerous...for the pig. Noah's the only other one I know who's done this. Best of luck, but I wouldn't take offense to the jokes. If I were to ask the same question, I would expect the same results + some.
 
When it comes down to someone having a hobby, passion, etc... that may seem different or unique, it is to be expected others will respond in different ways. People joke around about it, and all in fun and games. I think the problem is, when the person taking the "ribbing" indicates that it is bothersome or hurtful, I would expect people to have the respect to refrain from the jokes and banter. Yes this is the internet, and yes these things happen. The fact that this site is dedicated to a smaller group of people, I would think there would be a certain added respect between the members, than large open forums set up to accomodate tons of different people.

If anything, maybe my post will get the Sea Ray guys to come bash the Cruisers Inc owner, instead of the pot bellied pig owner. :D

Good to see you found the solution, and having a forum member help in such, is a great thing to hear.

Others will have a laugh. Don't walk or talk funny, be a blonde cause that's a laugh too. I'm sure all this rolls off Ko-Jac's back and he doesn't sweat it. So laugh at simple clean jokes get the help you desire or don't put so much of your personal life out there that may find unusual or funny. I was trying to use metaphors to show humans will poke fun at anything from the truck you drive, where you shop, the boat you own (think Bayliner, sorry Doug), and ANYTHING others think of to joke about. Wouldn’t it be grand if no one ever chucked at anything, then we have no laughter at all in this world. It is nature to laugh and tease each other over our differences.

So, a family has as pets, a pig, and a snake, they bask in the joy of every “oh that’s cute” comment, but are crushed to the floor when some of us think that it is odd and funny to put a pig on a pleasure boat. While I know people do make unusual and exotic animals pets, it is just that, unusual, odd, and funny. So enjoy the uniqueness you have and let others enjoy it in their way too.
 
I love the idea of a pig on board.
If I should break down at sea. Then be a drift for weeks or months.
I would enjoy my ham very much. :grin:

I bet they're "born agains" too or maybe they believe in L Ron Hubbards Scientology. The posts are JOKES and only that. Relax and enjoy a day on the water!

Best advice I've heard so far. IMHO - The more you whine/complain about it the more jokes you will get.

I'm one of them,... Born Agains. That's why I bought a Sea Ray.
Im a sinner, and needed to be punished. :grin: LOL
