Jim, I'm sorry to hear about the lower unit problems. It does seem like every project has this phase where half the stuff you THOUGHT was good gives you fits. I suppose that's what "break-in" is about. You put it IN the water, and it BREAKS.

Well, on the bright side, and I'm not telling you anything you didn't already know, it sure is pretty. I thought your cable/fuel line guide was the bomb, too.

Well, I'll try to throw enough wake for you to do some tricks.
Even if you don't get a chance to shake her down there. You can always do it here. The current is not bad in our river and I know you could get some company to be there with you just in case.

And as said before, she's beautiful. You'r an amazing craftsman - and you have the patience of a saint.

My patience has run out actually .....
the interior that should have been the easy part has turned into a total PITA

Some things are worth more that just book value. You have a real jem even if it is a parade trailer queen in the end. My bet is you'll get it running and it will see lots of great use.

It seems like I reach this point in every big project; I'm so far in that there's no backing out and it seems like everything is turning to total crap. I was completely there a week and a half ago with one of my Corvairs and over the weekend it placed in the top 25 at a major Corvair show in the Detroit area. I think that's why a boat like this one is so special. It takes a lot of perseverance to get through all of the hard work and setbacks to make something special.

Hang in there, Jim. We're pulling for ya!

I am staying with this project to the end
Lower unit parts came in today
but at this moment I am on ft wayne with the admiral and the interior WILL be finished by tomorrow nite
and engine reassembled by the weekend
back on MY timeframe

interior done...just got home
all thats left is to mount the seat backs
the ladies worked about 5 hours on the front seat back..it was a fight.
but IMO the effort was worth it

the Admiral and Admiral-in-law did a spectacular job IMO for having no real useable patern for the material
to start with..at least I had semi-intact wood and foam to get ideas from.

tomorrow nite is put the lower unit back together

Hum? Your upholstery team looking for some contract work?

Nice, Jim.

they worked really hard on it
but the best part is Kathy got to spend some time sewing with her mom like when she was young
looks like I won't get the opportunity to take my dad for a ride in her...there is just no possible
way he will be able to get in on the hard or from a dock. His knees are gone and he is about 325lbs
and barely walking now. Hope he will at least enjoy seeing her.

ok.. the lower unit is back together
for anyone that ever wondered what is in there here ya go..
