Official 330 Sundancer Thread

C o 2, Is this the stuff you used??

Crew of Two: The black foam you seek is called screw cover. You can buy it from Taylor Marine Products. When I get into work tomorrow I will post up a phone number and part number. They used 28'. Expect it to cost around $145 total including $25 for handling and $11 for Fed Ex delivery... Its not the foam it is the newer plastic they use in the new boats hopefully this holds up better. Seems like an fairly straight forward install. Cut it a bit bigger incase it shrinks..

I have yet to install mine will be doing it this weekend. Need to find something to cut it nice and straight, I am thinking some kitchen shears...

Edit here is the contact info and the part number: Theresa was a big help and great to deal with!

I show we used 28ft of 8349030 for that boat, its $3.71 a foot, plus $25 handling plus shipping.

TD, that sounds like the stuff. I posted a point of contact earlier in this thread for where my marina ordered it. They went through a large Searay dealer in Florida instead of direct through Taylor...

We are having a torrential downpour thundershower right now so I plan to see if it solved my window leak problem.

Anyone looking for it, please review old Crew Of Two postings...

Good luck to all! It isn't cheap, but it is nice.

Pictures would be great. (before and after) I have to do this once I finish the cabin remodel and I wonder if this new plastic stuff will work on my '94.

thanks

Doggone it! What is left of mine is pretty ugly. I'm too cheap to pop for the Taylor product. I've been keeping my eye out for a less expensive substitute.

330 DA Cupholder mod

Here is a pic of the port side cupholder mod I did last year. There was a thread last year about them but I didn't have a pic at the time. The drink holder on the 97 330 is horrible and is only about 1 inch deep. I cut out the middle section and mounted an Edson twin stainless in the middle. The hole spacing matches exactly and now I have a functional holder on the port side for passengers.

That is an excellent mod!

The stock holders are an absolute joke. One of a few things on the boat that makes ya wonder WTH were they thinking??? I once had the EMPTY holders blow out of place from a breeze through the windshield vent.

I am in the process of redoing mine with an alternative for the same reasons you state. IMHO the cost for the OEM replacemant is insane money for the product you are receiving.

I am using (donning kevlar suit now as my "alternatives" are often ridiculed) closed cell pipe insulation from homedepotlowes. So far so good.

There are two kinds. One is a matte finish. That did not repel water too well and I ripped it out. The other is a glossy finish which to date is working very very well. I put in one side last fall as an experiment to compare my idea to original. A plus from God is we had a miserable winter. More rain and snow in the 09/10 winter than in the last several decades. The experiment went very well. No water leaks. No ice dams.

I used the existing foam as a template for length and width. I found that fitting works best with 2 people. One to hold the insulation open while the correct measurements are made and the other to do the cutting of the pipe insulation. I found the insulation cannot be "pieced" into place. It must be one continuous run in each channel, except the front curved pieces. Those can be pieced in, however, the seam must be toward the bow. If you piece the sides, wind catches the seam and pulls out any pieces not firmly set in place. The only way to find out what is not firmly set in place is to have the wind pull it out.....ARRRRGGGGGHHH!

I believe I have about $25 into the whole thing including mistakes.

I agree this is an awesome mod!!!! I had a beverage fall out of the holder while docked in 5mph breeze!! Did you have to screw the stainless portion through the bottom of the door cover? I just reinstalled mine yesterday as I finally finished the door track and roller (Truck) replacement I started months ago. Would have been a good time to mod the drink holder!

Re: 330 DA Cupholder mod

Yes I did have to drill through. The Edson has a 1/4 threaded stud that goes into a hole in the base of the holder and also a similar sized pin cast in the bottom beside it. You drill two holes in the dash (it cannot twist after install).

Getting the washer and nut on through the speaker hole was a horrible experience. My son reached in to start the nut (smaller arm/hands), then I tightened it with a box wrench about 1/32nd of a turn at a time.:smt013 Would have been easier to remove the door probably. However, now that its done, its great.

C-wood, Very nice!!
DPM, You and I think the same way. I too had thought of the pipe insulation. My other thought is going straight to a mnftr. of extruded closed foam product. When I search the web I find lots of mnftrs. I didn't find anything that would fit in either in Granger or McMaster Carr.

Have moisture / staining on carpet in aft berth area, also in storage area under front/stbd. hanging locker..not sure were it is coming from.any ideas??

Hi, I have the same year 330 and engine setup. I too have the carpet staining and water leak issues. Although difficult to find, the main leak on my boat was coming from the windshield screws over the galley and running down past the refrigerator to the floor along the Head and stairs to the aft cabin. I resealed the windshield but still have other leaks coming from the handrails I believe. Those too are hard to get to without taking apart the insides. I plan to tackle this season and will let you know what I find.

Thanks
John

I thought our leak was the shower drain. It turned out to be the seal in the head window.

Hi, I used the same pipe insulation to cover the screws and it looks and works great however it is not UV Portected and will start to crack in a year or 2... It is so cheap that it is worth doing over when needed.

Just finished tearing apart and resealing the bow rail stantions all aound the boat. No fun, found lots of moisture present, the old bedding compound had really failed. I have details if anyone wants to know. Plan on 5 plus hrs and a GOOD friend! I used West marine Polyether sealant/caulk, cleans up with acetone..

Oh Damn!!! Another project to add to the list!!! Thanks for the info. I'll prob do it later this season. Any thing major to know?? Thanks Todd

Hi, I have a question about the Charging system on my 330. I noticed that my Converter charges only 1 bank of batteries ( The batteries under the Cockpit Seat) while the other bank is only charged by the Alternator while the engine is running. So far this has not been a problem but I would like both banks of batteries to be charged fully while on shore power. Is this normal operation for this boat or is there a problem with the convertor or bad wire connection.

Thanks
John

Do any of you 330 owners have your shower sump pump running frequently? I actually seem to have some water source getting in there and I haven't figured out what it is yet...we don't use the shower so I don't even have a guess...

Could be the air conditioner condensate. Mine runs into the sump and is pumped overboard. On a hot muggy day, you would be amazed at how much water is drawn out of the air in a 24 hour period. It's in the double digit gallons.
