Subwoofer Install - Re: Official 330/350 (2008 and newer) Thread

Has anyone installed a subwoofer in a 2009 330DA or better yet, have the factory installed subwoofer? Where did they mount it, where did they run/mount the speaker cables?

I didn't know that was an option. Space is limited but if you added one in the cabin perhaps one could be mounted on either side of the V-berth on that shelf but it would need to be thin. Not sure how difficult it would be running the audio cable from there to the media components.

It's listed as a factory option on the sea ray website. I think they install it in the side of the cockpit seat storage, but dont know the details. PLus Sea Ray doesnt release their parts manuals anymore so cant see where the dealer thinks it should go.

I've had a portable battery, for jump starting purposes, but my question is how do you know which of the batteries should get the "jump"? I've got 2 banks, port/starboard, with 2 batteries each - total of 4. I would rather know which one to connect to, BEFORE an emergency comes up, rather than in the middle of one.

Not sure what your issue is but you have two batteries for each engine. If you deplete one bank you use the emergency start button at the helm to connect the banks together for emergency start. If both banks are dead then it will not matter which bank you jumper first. One bank is also your house batteries but not sure if that is for the starboard engine or port.

That makes sense, John - it really shouldn't matter, if the emergency start doesn't work - either bank could be jumped first. Thanks.

Has anyone had hot water heater issues? I had mine on overnight, and this morning the water was cold. I went to the panel in the cabin, and turned it off. I then watch the amp meter on the panel, when I turned it back on. Knowing the water was cold, I expected that by turning it on, the amps would kick up, as they always do, but nothing. I don't think there is any power going to the unit. If anyone has any suggestions for troubleshooting, it would be greatly appreciated.

Just checking in on this thread for the first time in a while...

I have the subwoofer on my 330. It is under the aft facing seat on the end facing inboard. We are launching this weekend and I will try to get a picture.

Two warranty repairs that are being made on my 330: Moving the engine hatch actuator breaker out of the bilge (clearly a design flaw...my breaker was tripping frequently and if it had done so with the hatch down it would have been very difficult to raise the hatch to reset). Second, I am getting new (different) fuel senders because my guages have been occasionally reading zero when there is gas in the tank. If any of you have the same problems, mine are being covered under warranty.

The dealer also told me today that holding the hatch close button too long is causing the actuators to pull out of the stringers (my bolts were stripped although I have been pretty careful about this). Worth paying attention to, particularly since stripped actuator bolts could result in the hatch dropping on you while working in the bilge. Good reason to use the safety strut while down there in any event.

Cabin Door Track - Help!!!

Ever since I picked up my 2009 330DA new, i have been have major trouble with the cabin door. The dealer would cnostantly "adjust" it, it would work great for a week or 2 and then be difficult to open again. Now it sounds like one of the wheels in the top track have broken off and are grinding.

Anyone else had a problem like this? Anyone ever removed the door? I cant figure out how to get the door out to inspect the track. Help!

A picture would be great - if you can grab one of the wiring/routing too that would be majorly helpful. I *really* appreciate it!

P.S. All of you Axius owners should check out my post on the "Official Axius" thread on this site. Major Upgrade available.

Here is a pic of the subwoofer. It is mounted on the end of the aft facing seat just behind the Captain's chair. This is part of the engine hatch cover, so the wiring must run all the way to the stern although I did not have a chance to follow it. I also have two amplifiers mounted in the cabinet behind the starboard bolster in the mid cabin berth. My assumption is the subwoofer wiring runs to the stern, then around to the starboard side and up to the amps. Hope that helps.

bport, where are they going to put the hatch breaker? Seems like a big job to rewire that circuit to another location although I think that is a good idea. I have noticed that using the power plug at the helm to open the hatch will blow the fuse in the power adapter plug (was 15A). I had to put in a a 25 A to work so the hatch actuator must draw a lot of current!

Ziekman, I have not had any hot water heater issues yet. I only know of the breaker at the MDP that controls heater on/off. I do not know of any other fuses. You are correct that the meter should show a current draw when the heater is on. Let us know what you find out.

John, I pulled the plate off the front of the water heater, and unconnected/reconnected the "pinned" connector. I jiggled another wire (green). Turned power back on, and have hot water!!! All I can think is it was a loose connection of some sort.

Not yet sure where they will put the hatch breaker and what the setup will be...but I will post once the work is done.

A question for those of us with the 8.1's: do we have fuel filters? I know I've got one on my starboard tank, but I'm pretty sure that is for the generator, but how about the engines???

My engine filters are part of the cool fuel module on the lower right side of engine, On another note I changed by gen. canister filter without filling with fuel and when I started the gen it ran for about one minute and stopped. I'm guessing the gen. is not self priming and would not suck hard enough to refill the canister filter. Anyone else have this issue?

I went to check all the subsystems out today and notice that my V berth bed actuator does not work. Only get a click sound but bed does not move. Anyone have any ideas what might be wrong? Thanks
