Official 330/350 (2008 and newer) Thread

Hi Art.

you should be able to go automotive pretty easy. What size are you looking to go with? Great looking 33 BTW. I'd love to see some more pics of it if you post them anywhere on the net. Its exactly what I'm looking for. How does she go with the big blocks?

Thanks CT, I'll look for some more pics to post. As for size, I think SR gives you a 19" for the cockpit (from the factory). And, for how she goes with the 8.1's...like a bat out of hell, out of the gate. From what I understand, the i/o's are faster at top end, but that's not my goal, and 20-24 mph is just perfect with this particular boat, in my opinion.

Hi Art,
Yeah I'm not a top end guy either. I'm going to be in her for a few years for sure so I want to do it right the first time even if it hurts a little. I dont want the lugging if I'm a little loaded with fuel and family. Do you mainly stay on the River? Is the 33 a good size for the long weekender with 2.5 -4 people?

I think, considering SR uses the 8.1's to lug much heaver vessels, this one might be considered overpowered, in comparison...definately good to know you have the capacity in reserve, when needed. We go as far as Marth's Vineyard, for now, but spend most of our time in Greenport, Sag Harbor, Block Island, Mystic, Montauk, and Newport when we travel. But, it's still nice to know the river is there, because we find ourselves in the Hamburg Cove often, and enjoy it as a quick and convenient place to go just to chill out and relax without the expense associated with the other places.

Is it a good size for a long weekend with 2.5 to 4 - absolutely. 3-4 adults plus 1 or 2 kids would be fine. Any more time/people and it would get cramped quickly, in my opinion.

Yesterday while doing some winterization I noticed my bilge pump (stern unit that is activated by helm switch) would come on but not pump. Luckily the high water pump works.. I was going to remove it and bench test the unit but looks almost impossible to reach. Does anyone know how to remove this unit? Does it snap in or do I need to remove some bolts (hard to see)? Thanks

I put a lot of water in my bilge several weeks ago, when I cleaned it. The low water pump never kicked in, and when attempting to engage manually, it didn't work. I bailed all of the water out, and whala the pump started to work just fine!! i thought there should be a fuse, and had looked, but never did determine where it was...you may want to try that first, as I understand thise pumps are relatively trouble free, but the fuse should be the thing you want to rule out.

By the way, was there enough water for it to suck out, did you try the float switch, or were you at the helm trying to activate it? I understand the float switches could get stuck.

I tripped the float switch manually and heard the pump turn on but did not pump. There was enough water.

Update: since I could not reach this pump I took a shot at using a hose and sprayed at the inlet with a lot of pressure while using the switch on the float switch to cycle on and off. Then is started to work. Perhaps something was stuck in the pump or the switch connections were gummed up. I'm thinking that one should cycle the pump each time out to keep it working correctly.

What do you take off your boat, over the winter months? I'm thinking of taking everything that isn't nailed/screwed/bolted on, which is what I've done for the last couple of years. But, I'm also thinking of taking the master berth mattress...

I take most home but leave the matress and cushions. Seems like so much stuff it feels like I'm moving or something!

Hi everyone - can you let me know what your impeller replacement has been or is? I've got 121 hours over 2 seasons and don't know if I should replace or wait 1 more year.

Have you seen any deterioration in water pressure?

I have not - what is the guidance on that??

Not sure but if you see the water pressure deteriorate too rapidly from what it was new it may be time to change. I run about 1.5 psi at idle and then it goes to 12+ psi at speed. I guess if the idle psi fell to .5 and/or the speed pressure fell to single digits I may start to be concerned but I'm no expert.

Anyone know how to get a parts manual for 2008 model? The Sea Ray site does not show one for some reason..

Hi everyone, I hope you are enjoying this wonderful winter we are having!!!

Has anyone installed a davit system for a dinghy on their newer 330? There seem to be so many options, many of which I'm sure would work with the boat, but it would be reassuring to know a fellow 330 owner who already has one and is satisfied with it.

I'm looking at a 10' wood floor PVC inflatable, with a 9.9 Merc outboard.

Hi Ziekman,

Maybe this post will bring the thread up and get some replys. I have the same exact question...looking to add a dinghy, but even after reading every old thread on the topic, I'm still not sure what to do. We dock stern-in under difficult (current and wind) conditions at our slip, so any davit system would have to allow me decent access on the stern. We would only take the dinghy a couple of times a year and otherwise tie it up down our dock a ways. Our primary use would be to run upriver to a local beach, although the currents can be strong. Most important, I want to be able to get in from moorings when we travel. After reading everything, I still cannot decide between rigid hull or inflatable floor and am not sure how much horsepower I really want, not to mention the davits. The swim platform on the 330 is obviously different from a lot of the Sea Rays and it looks to me like it may be more complex to add davits. One of the 330 owners has a pneumatic extension...is this the answer?

Hi, and thanks for the reply - It's great to hear from you. I did make a couple of decisions, on a Merc 280 Dynamic Rib, with an 8 HP Merc outboard. I spent a lot of time researching davit systems, and other options. We just ordered a Sea-Lift hydraulic swim platform. I'm keeping my boat, and I want to enjoy it now, with the options I want. It was a big decision, but so many times we had wished we had a dinghy, and with this system being so simple for launch and retrieve, I really think we are going to enjoy the heck of it. So, why not a roll-on or other type of davit system. Because of the 93" internal width of the integrated swim platform, we are severely restricted to many of the systems out there. First, you would need a very small dinghy, and even then, with these systems, I figured you would be totally losing your platform, and would have to walk through your dink for access stern. Further, I don't believe you would be able to open our engine hatch, with the dink obstructing the way. The last thing I want to do, is have to launch or take the dink off the boat just to check my oil, or worse yet, to look inside while underway, because the bilge light comes on or something worse. There was one system I researched that I thought I would be comfortable with, a St. Croix system, where the dink would hang off the back edge of the platform, by 2 hooks, with a pulley/rope system. I didn't go this route, because they wanted me to put a backing plate underneath the platform, for more security. This just didn't sit well with me.

The Sea-Lift should be installed before mid-April, so I'll post some pics once it is on. Still, this will be a challenge when docking stern-in. We don't do that too often, so it wasn't a consideration of mine. I don't expect a lot of maneuverability, so if it turns out that it isn't possible, we are going to need to get creative, perhaps launching the dinghy nearby, tying her up, then docking. But, I do think we'll be able to figure it out, with the dinghly on the platform. If it was a showstopper, I think I could have got a smaller dink, so that perhaps there would be room for a foot. But, with this system, I still have the same access on/off the boat, with the original platform, just like before, which I didn't see happening with any of the davit systems I looked at, other than the St. Croix I described above. Let me know what you end up doing. Everyone who has a dinghy tells me it changes how they boat, because you have access to shore, independant of any assistance.

Your Sea-Lift project sounds very cool. Please keep us informed and take pictures if you can!
