Re: Cabin Door Track - Help!!!

I have had trouble with my cabin door too. Dealer remounted with a piece of wood under the top rail. This has improved the situation but is still less then ideal. I am returning to dealer for further repairs. I will let you know how it works out. P.S. This is my first post.

As I recall, if you remove the bedding and perhaps a plywood cover on the v-berth, you will find the mechanism that raises the bed. I suspect you have something jamming the worm gear.

The plywood and staple bracketing fell all apart on mine. The dealer had to fabricate and more robust mount for the worm gear. Now it works.

Re: Cabin Door Track - Help!!!

Mine used to grind and jam up. It was eating away at the aluminum track. The dealer needed to remove the entire helm to fix it. Now it works.

Today I tried to take a closer look at my V-berth mechanism. Cannot see much thru the access door under the mattress (actually kind of useless). I'm having my dealer try to repair under warranty. I will report back what he finds.

Quick question for anyone?

My neighbor has an 08 330 that he trailers. When we were at the lake this weekend to start the air conditioner he has to get in a kayak and be on the port side and actually suck on the thru hole fitting while the ac gets turned on so it will start peeing water. He has to do this everytime he puts it in the water......Is that normal? Thanks

Priming AC is normal and if he trailers probably every time he takes it out. He can try closing the seacock before taking out of water which may keep the water from draining back out and keep it primed. I had to do that this year but I disconnected the hose at the strainer and backed filled that direction and then hooked the hose back up.

How the heck do you trailer an '08 330? She weighs over 16,000 lbs with gear, and is 11'6" wide. As for priming the A/C, the yard does mine in the spring, but with my old Four Winns boat, all you needed to do is put a hose where the through hull is, and turn on the A/C, and the water at the hose - once the water from the hose is introduced, priming takes moments, and you should be able to remove the hose, to see water coming out.

Regarding bilge pumps - there are 2 in the bilge - lower and high water. When you turn the bilge on, at the helm, which one turns on? Also, I found a third pump under the saloon sole, just aft of the shower sump - do you guys have one there, also?

The helm controls most rearward pump (low water pump). The third pump under the cabin steps is for the AC condensate and the shower drain. Keep an eye on your low water bilge pump. Sometimes mine cavitates (air lock) and will not pump water out when switched on (marina told me this is a common issue).

He has it sitting on a gooseneck trailer sitting in a boat barn. He started off pulling it with my F350 Dually but then found a F550 to pull it with. Oversize permit for hauling and modifying the arch to fold down makes it legal on the road. Makes it easy to go to the lake or the coast. Trailer, boat, fuel and gear probably close to 20Klbs.

John, is there a fix on the low water bilge pump issue, is this something to worry about? Regarding the third pump, yes there is a measly little pump in the plastic box, for AC condensate and shower drain - but just aft of that I've got another decent size pump - do you have one also? That would make 2 in the bilge, the AC/Shower pump, and this 4th one.

Not sure about the bilge pump issue. I do not use it very often and it will not pump unless you have an inch or more of water in the bilge. The dealer told me that there is a check valve in the discharge line and sometimes air gets trapped in there. I found if this happens I can take a hose and shoot at the base of the pump and it will start to pump (not a very good design). I would replace it but it is very difficult to reach unless you have super long arms. I did check my high water bilge pump and that seems to work OK and it is same design as the low water pump so not sure what the issue is. I will look again at my cabin sump and see if I have another pump. Perhaps someone else here can provide some additional info..

Gas Overfill?

My 2009 330Da when filling the fuel tanks will overfill *everytime* and spill out the overflow. This is regardless of what fuel dock/pump i am at. Something about my fuel fillers dont "pop" the fuel pump to stop. Anyone else having this issue? What does everyone do?

Have the same issue with the 320. I have learned to listen to the vent as it gets close to full or I just add 50 gallons at a time and get it close to full.

I did that the first few times. Now, I know how much I'm down and slow it down when I get to within 20 gallons of full while crouching down to listen near the vents and holding a rag there at the same time.

Same here - it's easy to do, and does the trick

Anybody have experience or advice for removing the arch on a 310/330? I am wanting to install a hinge system so that I can lower to get under low bridge on my lake.

OK, update on my old bilge pump issue. I cleaned the bilge this weekend and turned on the low water bilge pump from the helm and it just ran as before but would not pump (same issue as last fall that was supposedly fixed by my dealer). I tried to prime with hose but no go. Then I decided to test the high water pump by raising the float switch. This pump pumped but when I turned it off all the water came back in. My guess it was all in the discharge hose and never left the boat. How many of you have tested your pumps recently? Did both work as designed? I want to tear these apart but I'm still trying to figure out how to reach the rear low water bilge pump.
