I have not posted my install yet but here it is. I just posted for advice before I started. Anyone attempting this mod on a 290 feel free to ask for advice I'm sure I will save you some time and headache. I also installed a pedistal for my new magma grill.
WOW , that swim platform looks HUGE back there. How are the stainless support rods holding up? It looks like it bolts to the back edge of the existing platform. I would have though greater support could be had by making the mold conform to the underside of the existing platform as well.
How does the 350 tow? I have an 08 F250 SuperDuty Turbo Diesel if I ever get the urge to tow mine around.
No I don't. Not quite sure what that is?Hey Conch'd I notice you use the same truck I use to tow mine. Do you have a weight distribution hitch for yours?
The rods are attached to the boat by 1.25" lag screws and at the platform a pan head screw and a bolt all the way through recessed in the top of the platform. Its surrprisingly sturdy. 350 tows fine plenty of power but wish I had DRW.WOW , that swim platform looks HUGE back there. How are the stainless support rods holding up? DINKS !
Has anyone thought of one for the 290? What sort of davit system would work on the integrated platform?
Zodiak makes a 6'7" wood floor - http://www.defender.com/product.jsp?path=-1|215570|216220|295555&id=929538
and an 8'2" RIB - http://www.defender.com/product.jsp?path=-1|215570|216220|295557&id=1176551
The RIB might be too large especially when hung off the back and you are trying to board. But it would be the perfect size for 3 and if you ever did upgrade.
With an extended platform like Conch... you would have plenty of room to put a davit system in.

Hey Conch..Nice writeup.
I have never towed my 290, But did tow my 270 and my 220 lots. I'd be surprised if a strap for the back is needed...Got plenty of weight to hold the stern down I would think. Maybe just leave them kinda loose for safety sake?
Thanks
I have been towing without them just fine but I have some straps my friend gave me and I thought I would use them.
Well....I was going to nominate you as the President of the 290 club...but forget it now.
Yeah, he is no longer a member of the 290 club, and hopefully he deletes his presence from CSR too.
Beautiful boats you guys have, I'm jealous of you all. Now back to your regularly scheduled thread.
Thanks but no reason to be jealous, we have just as much fun on our bowrider as we do in the cruiser. It's a different experience on both. As long as you're on the water you're in the club.
