Hey Crew, thought I’ld throw a post since I’m layed up in the hospital for a few more days. Big rain storm Saturday, storm stopped, wiped down the swim platform and started taking throw rug out to dry. Step on the non dry dock rub rail, slipped, right foot was already off the swim step, fell back, missed the swim platform and hit my rib cage HARD of the swim platform edge , broke right side ribs 6,7,8,9 needed surgery and pins plus punched a small hole in right lung. Worst part about it NO ALCOHOL was involved, unbelievable.
Not looking for sympathy (especially from this group). Look it up it’s right between shit and syphlis.

So on to the good part, not sure if I posted this if so sorry for the redundancy, found a young mechanic at one of the local shops I deliver to to help me work on the boat. Much less expensive and he’s getting very interested the the boat systems.

Last Saturdays projects:
New Starboard alternator, bearings and regulator bad.

GenSet Choke assembly and new governor spring finally installed correctly, starts and runs like a dream. Question about the GenSet though KOHLER 5E, load it up with everything except the stove top, runs perfect, throw a burner on and it lugs down a bit, throw the other burner on and it drops to under 100v, just too much for it? I haven’t added everything up but I’m betting it’s more than it’s rated for.

New brushed faucet in the cockpit, looks great.

New house deep cycle battery (old one was a starting)

1 New starting battery other is on order.

Bought AZ group 27’s

Old batteries were 2017 and the house had stopped taking a charge.

Pictures this week when I can move around.

AZ had a 3 day employee 30% off sale, saved $140. I call that a win.

Hello everyone. I am having a problem with my port engine on my 1997 290 sendancer. Today after docking at my marina I turned the key to turn the engine off and the engine as still running. I tried turning the key back on then off. The engine sounded like it wanted to shut off (like it was sputtering) but was still running. Has anyone has problems like this?

Damnnn..Sorry to hear about your accident. Get well soon.

I messed with it for about 1/2 hour, Didn’t want to break the new one.
So, I received mine. There is a slot at the top, and you just push the tab on the new key/button through it. The tab on the key has some flexibility to it. Make sure that there is no debris in the hole.

Hi Rickjz, Thanks to you I just received the part (lock knob) from FP. Now the tough part, I cannot figure out how to install, would appreciate any tips.

You may want to disassemble and clean that latch assembly, (find and remove the broken piece) as it says in the install instructions or you could end up with a closed door and a jammed latch like @Blueone did and that got real messy.
Maybe he will chime in with some of those ugly broken latch pics.

"Southco Mobella replacement turn lock knob for Offshore latches. The retaining tab on these knobs sometimes snaps off with age and the knob will not stay in the latch. It is best to dis-assemble the latch to be sure all debris is removed before installing new lock knob. The inside face of the lock knob has tabs that will match with the indentations of the main latch engine which insures proper alignment."

Does anyone know where to get a replacement drain for the sink in the head? It's about 1 1/2" diameter at the sink. I was looking for stainless.

Hey Buddy, I know this is a little old but I just ordered a 1 1/2” from these guys Zoro.com I’ll let you know if it works out.

Thanks, let me know. I ended up using a hull through fitting that worked pretty good. I added a drain plug from my local hardware store. The only downside is that is a little raised so that the sink doesn't drain all the way.

Got it, I just checked the galley sink and head sink “look” the same and both are in horrible shape. New ones should get here by the weekend
