Official 2003.5-2008 340 Sundancer Thread

Looking to replace my amps in my 2006 340 sundancer. I have the two small amps behind the head unit and would like something plug and play.

Re: 2003.5-2008 340 Sundacer Thread

If mine were on the market, it would be listed at $149K minimum....does that help?

Well we all know how attached you are to your boat Scott, and she is a beauty. The salty 340s seem to have a lower listing price. Then there is the issue between asking and what they actually sell for. If anyone has sold or bought a 340 recently I'd appreciate hearing the ball park figures so I have a point of reference. Overall I'm trying to see if a $125k asking price nets $115 or closer to $100k. I know spring is a different story so lets stick to the current end of season pricing.

I sold my 2003 340 a few weeks ago. Not sure how much it will translate to your situation (few years older boat and a different market) but I will share my experience. PM me if you're interested.

Steve

I think you are in the ball park. Listed at 125k and selling for 110-115K. 100k would be a great deal for an 07, even salty.

IN our freshwater market you can add 5-10k.

Came down to the dock today and found this...not sure how it happens. Does anyone happen to know the part # to replace it? Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for the feedback. If all goes well I'll have a 340 just in time for winter storage.

Good luck! You'll love the 340, there is just about nothing not to love about the boat. It's the perfect blend of power, performance and size.

Re: 2003.5-2008 340 Sundacer Thread

Tim,

I live in Rhode island and just bought a 2005 340 Sundancer with 150 hours on 8.1 Horizon V-Drives and 17 Hours on a 5Kw Kohler Genset for $104,500. It was originally listed for $130K in the Spring, then after sitting for the Summer it was reduced to $119K and then finally dropped to $110K. I ended up with it at $104,500. Had a full survey and sea trial done on it and everything checked out perfect. Inside and out is in mint condition. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info Rob. Seems like everyone has a high asking. It makes it hard to find the general selling price without working a few offers.

Looks like I have a deal going on an '07. She has some hours at around 400 but seems to have been well cared for and all the major maintenance done (risers, shaft bearings, oil, etc). One thing that was done that made me scratch my head was both transmissions were replaced before the warranty ended. They were making noise at idle speed. Seems it was a common issue with the ZFs. Does anyone have any additional details on this? Something to do with the clutch plates rattling at low RPM.

It's odd that they would have been replaced under warranty for that. The ZF is known to make noise similar to rocks tumbling around at idle(mine does not). It has been determined to be acceptable and normal, although not sure I would feel that way if mine did it.. Hurth recommends changing the trans fluid out for 15w-40 motor oil to quite the noise.

This is from a service bulletin:
We have received a number of complaints regarding rattling or noisy ZF/Hurth reduction gears
(V-drive or in-line). The noise is most pronounced at idle RPM and typically goes away when the
engine RPM is raised above idle. Although the noise can be irritating, this is a normal condition
with these transmissions that in no way affects the durability or reliability of the unit.

Keep in mind that these boats sold in 2007 for around $230-249K priced around 279-299K....just sayin........

I just bought on 06 340 last week. Fresh water use only. 8.1 vdrives 255 hours. With sea max dingy radar c80 ray marine central vac salon big screen bow and stern thrusters. Super clean boat with no issues according to marine survey. Looking forward to spring.

Thanks for the info! I've been trying to figure out how to stop it since I bought the boat. Glad to hear it's normal and not causing additional wear and tear.

I did the sea trial on the '07 340 today. Everything looks great but one thing I did question is the shifting of the Port transmission. The Starboard shifted like butter. It seemed perfect. So when I shifted the port I noticed it made and engaging noise(nothing significant, more like a click or soft clank) and went into gear a little more firmly. Almost like it shifted at 100 rpm more then the starboard. Gauges shows the same RPMs. I think this may be due to the counter rotation of the port shafts; port trams runs in reverse compared to starboard. Do you guys experience the same with your boats?
