My Sandy Story

My God I just spent the last hour going through all the pictures of the damage in your area and I am sorry .... take care and best of luck with the insurance

Ron and all others hit by this disaster, I offer my heartfelt condolances for all that you are going through. I hope God and the insurance companies treat you well. It almost makes me ill looking at all that destruction.

I also realize just how close in terms of distance this storm came to putting me in the same fix as all of you. I'm right across the Delaware Bay from Cape May, 17 miles. I feel fortunate to have missed the worst of this storm but saddened that it had to hit somebody and that it had to be all you good people to the north.

As an aside, I feared the storm surge you all experienced and I pulled the boat from the marina and had it trucked inland about 4 miles away from the bay and rivers. I think I would have been OK there if it had been as bad as what you got, but could have blown off the stands so I'm not patting myself on the back, just thanking my lucky stars.

I hope everyone makes out financially and comes thru this better off.

We need you on the bay as our ring leader, cruise/party planner, and all around nice guy. Let your CSR friends help you find your next boat. The connections, and smarts of the people on this site would be IMO the best way to find your next boat.

It was sad what happened to your boat, but don't let this storm kill your summers on the water...

Rod,

Those are some really nice words to our shipmate Ron. Thanks from me for saying that.

I drive two hours to bring my family to Ron for Denistry, and my brother is Dentist... Not many people are as good as Ron... He does give us a CSR discount.... I think...

Hang in there Ron. I had arguably the worst boating season that I can remember last year. It was nothing like your devastation and I'm not equating it to that but, I put in ridiculous man hours trying to address some overdue maintenance items. After a month or better of overnights etc I get an infected eye from fiberglass and that is immediately followed by my 7 y/o slipping on the dock and getting 5 stitches in his ear. I didn't even want to look at the boat for about a month after that. Eventually the negative vibes subsided somewhat and I got a couple of uneventful weekends at the end of the year. I have recently started to buy the last of my stereo components, JL Audio speakers, which I am loking forward to installing this spring. Give it time my man. This too shall pass.

This is killing me only because it is you....... Ron, can I offer to have you come take my boat for a ride on December 7-8-9th. I will not let you buy a thing but brother I sure would like to see you hop on one of our horses and take her for a ride just to let your legs feel the bounce again while Lil'Krissy is on the hard.

I know your passion and understand your desire to do some waiting until the whole damn thing settles down....but until then, wanna burn some diesel with me? You are one of the folks that we CAN NOT afford to leave us for any length of time. Just who will take over as "Cruise Director" in your absence....not happening, you're still in charge Doc.

The invite is in your pocket, just let me know.

R

Thanks Rusty...you're a helluva guy. Pm'd you back...

Ron, any idea when you get get on the boat and visually inspect her? Obviously with water "draining from the bow", the salvage company probably ruined her if Sandy didn't already, but I wonder how long they are keeping you out.

Mike

Ron, I think when this is all settled you should start the

2013 "Dominic Annunziata Memorial Atlantic City Trip"!!

Well, you are a bit premature on the announcement (we generally don't start until January), but, you are on the right track.

Regarding the AC trip, believe me, that thought (Dom Memorial) has entered my mind on more than one occasion. As has beginning the planning. But in years past, they wouldn't take any reservations until the first of the year. By then I'll know what's up in my world. BUT, will likely be getting a room in the Golden Nutsack.

Ron,
Sorry to hear of all your problems and I feel your pain from one DDS to another. If you're in the market for a pampered freshwater S.R. there are a few beauties for sale in Michigan. Let me know if I can help.
James

I am fully committed to not bringing the lobster. But I will be honored to attend a 2013 Dom Memorial / CSR rendezvous.
