Month Long Cruise through New England - Four Suns

The concierge should be there soon to deliver the canvas bag. Get a photo of her.

You are spoiled with deep water out your way. On the Chesapeake I would only start to sweat if the depth got down to about 15'.

In the Barnegat Bay 15' is a 'hole'.....I'd through out the anchor and start fishing if I found 15'

I just updated the blog.

Yes... 30 feet is "deep" in the Chesapeake Bay and mid-atlantic ocean until you get out near the continental shelf. when there is 70 feet of muck there. Up here, it seems to be a different story... what's with all these rocks?

I should clarify that I would start sweating in 15' of water in a boat with a 4' draft and 4' swells. Otherwise the part of the bay I typically boat on 15' is the typical depth.

Yeah, I know you guys are used to it, but here 30' of water can have a 27' rock smack in the middle of it. Obviously these are charted, but anything under 75' and you're on the lookout and really reading the charts carefully.

By tomorrow afternoon(hopefully) I'll have gone from 12'-18' for 6 miles in the slough where we'll launch to 150'+ for another 20 Miles, then in 700+ feet for a stretch. There are many places by the time we get to Canada that the depth finder won't ping back because we're in over 1000'+ of water.

Travel Safe Gary and enjoy. I'm digging this thread and your Blog.

We've arrived in Nantucket...

I'll admit I don't want to drive a boat for awhile.

C'mon Gary. You're just getting warmed up. I used to think I'd made a passage after a 30 hour run, but then I started talking with the Nordhavn trawler guys. They haven't even 'started' until they're 3 days out. On the other hand..... 700nm is about 1200g in fuel or about $6000 right now. Hope you have a few black credit cards.

I'm enjoying the blog... thanks.

The sad part of that point is, HE JUST STARTED.

It's only money. Look at all of those great photos he's getting in return!

oopsie. Correction. It's Gary's money. If it were mine, that be a different story.

We are not allowed to talk about fuel.

I just did another update. And the pictures of the shower scene are not made up.

Gray,

A great narrative. I think we need to nominate you for an amateur writing award, anybody second?

I can't start my work day without loging on to CSR and finding any post you added your "special" humor to. And now we all get twice the pleasure.

Enjoy the rest for the trip and make it home safely.

Rich

Great post:thumbsup:

I'm starting to worry about you Gary. You must have been hanging around your goth friend too much. What with the caption on this picture.

Mr. and Mrs. Sailboater and the guy has on a tight speedo and big ole' boner going on...

You're looking way... to close and long if you can tell that:lol::smt043:lol:

I can hear the guy in the shower (in a 'Seinfield' sort of way) yelling to the lady taking his picture....."Wait, don't take the picture yet....I don't have any hot water....the water is COLD"....

I’ve never had a bad day on Nantucket. Curious to hear what you think of the whole Jeep-on-the-beach experience. That over-sand permit is worth the price of admission.

New post is up... fairly boring though.. No one with boners or people trying to take pictures of inside the shower stalls.

Boring.... Keep it up and we may have to subtract Rep points:lol::smt043:lol:

It really was not that bad, especially for us that get to live vicariously through your post when we are stuck at work.:smt100

Well if you were a REAL jeep man, there's a $12 conversion kit that will turn your A/C into an air compressor. Works much better than those 12v pumps. Now that I think of it, a REAL jeep man won't have A/C in his jeep. never mind.

There seems to be a lot of eating on this trip. I noticed that you were also sucking in your gut in the hotdog photo.
