Month Long Cruise through New England - Four Suns

Actually, I just went down into the engine room and found an issue I need to deal with before we leave tomorrow.

Now you can feel sorry for me.

The blog has been updated with pics.

OK... I think I got things fixed up..

Blog updated... Wife happy... Dogs are still stupid.

Off to dinner and Rhode Island tomorrow.

Gary.....If you still have a problem with that port engine tomorrow......Hyannis Marina is 1 1/2 hour from Nantucket.....It would be a North heading right out of Nantucket 22 miles in Hyannis. If you get out in Nantucket Sound and things are not right, bang a right and head into Hyannis. Not too far off the beat and path.....Also if the weather is nasty, a great place to spend a night.....Good luck

Hope you didn't just jinx yourself. Looks like you did a great job, I mean not breaking that o-ring. Now I do remember something about an o-ring failure and NASA.

Looks like a solid fix Gary. Do your sons show interest in repairs like this at all? Are they hands on or hands off?

Doug

My oldest son is getting pretty good at swinging a wrench so he helps out a lot. The others do "boat chores" but don't do any mechanical work yet.

Just put an update up. Going to try and get to Newport today but the waves on the coast from the tropical storm are an issue. The plan is to leave about noon today.

That's good to hear. It's nice to see an entire family enjoy something like boating. My parents were never into the boating scene when I was a kid, so I never had to opportunity to do what your kids are doing. If we decide to have kids, they will almost definitely be brought up on the boat though. It really must be an awesome thing to experience with an entire family around.

Great blog Gary. As a matter of fact that is the first blog that held my interest for more than 5 minutes, I read the entire thing.

Just checked the weather buoys for Buzzards Bay... looks like it may be arelatively smooth ride to Newport!

We made it to Newport, RI. Buzzards Bay was fine but exiting that into the coast off of RI was a hoot. Broke one of the factory installed Bose speaker mounts off... The tropical storm was dishing up some waves.

Also, I still have a leak on my port engine.... grrr... it's "better" but still leaking.

We are going to be holed up here for a few days as the weather is going to turn to crap now.

I think I found the town where all the rich people live.
Thats putting it mildly...Your lucky(or maybe not) it's summer and the college girls have gone home from Salve Regina!
Anyone seen Gary.......Wait is he at a dorm party?????

I love going on this trip with you, but I'm not chipping in for gas!

Gas is a minimal expense on this trip. A few gallons for the dink or WaveRunner. Diesel, on the other hand, is an entirely different story.

Best regards,
Frank

Good point! I don't want to chip in for either! Four kids and two dogs, what's another free-loader?

I've been reading the blog through my RSS feed in my mac mail program and i've noticed that the pics in the mail program are much higher resolution than the blog. Is anyone else noticing such a big difference in pic resolution?

You can click on the images in the blog and they should appear in a separate window at higher resolution. At least they do on a Mac.

There is a new update up there from yesterday.

Thanks for all the comments... and I've only spent about $50 on gas so far.
