Month Long Cruise through New England - Four Suns

Oh yeah... If you are one of the people that goes to Starbucks and your coffee order takes 5 minutes to spit out of your mouth, you don't want to read today's update.

No pictures of the sea sick dogs?

I know about sea sick golden retrievers. For some reason, known only to little dog minds, our first golden decided that my boat shoe, which I had taken off, was the perfect thing to get sick into. Yuck

Best regards,
Frank C

Gary,

great blog...and great story telling. I look forward to reading it every morning when I get into work.

I keep my boat in Buzzards Bay (up towards the Cape Cod canal) and regularly boat to Newport, Nantucket and Marthas Vineyard, so reading all of the stories and keen observations has been a hoot.

I look forward to all of the future updates!!!

I used to have a cat that would always crap in my shoe. It doesn't live with us anymore.

I'm beginning to see a pattern....

If you are reading the blog, I think I have found my issue with the leak on the port engine. I just did an update with some pictures. If you are from around this area and know where I can get a hose made, please let me know.

Oh yeah... the weather here sucks:

* AT 723 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A
THUNDERSTORM...PRODUCING STRONG WINDS 34 KNOTS OR GREATER OVER
NEWPORT...MOVING NORTH AT 29 KNOTS.

* THIS STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL BE NEAR
5 NM EAST OF BRISTOL HARBOR BY 750 PM EDT

MARINERS CAN EXPECT STRONG GUSTY WINDS...ROUGH WAVES AND DANGEROUS
LIGHTNING. SEEK SAFE HARBOR IMMEDIATELY. IF CAUGHT ON THE OPEN WATER
STAY BELOW DECK IF POSSIBLE. KEEP AWAY FROM UNGROUNDED METAL OBJECTS.

FREQUENT LIGHTNING IS OCCURRING WITH THIS STORM. SEEK SAFE HARBOR
IMMEDIATELY. IF CAUGHT ON THE OPEN WATER STAY BELOW DECK IF POSSIBLE.
KEEP AWAY FROM UNGROUNDED METAL OBJECTS.

If you can't get a swaged one made, you can get a compression fitting, hose, and hose clamps and make something that will not leak at an auto parts supply. Done right, that should hold 2-300 psi.

Best regards,
Frank

I'm not from the area, but very familiar with the area. From the marina you're at, follow the road along the harbor past the Newport Yacht Club and Marriott timeshare complex north towards the Hyatt on Goat Island. At the base of the bridge to Goat Island is the Newport Shipyard. They are a full service yard and I am positive they could hook you up.

Gary,

Excellent read as this might be the only vacation I take this summer. We were headed to BIH but have had to replace all the navigation systems instead since 5 of us had a lighting strike come in through the electrical service and fry some things. I have throughly enjoyed reading about your trip and look forward to each day's update.

Have a safe trip and keep up the great blog.:smt038

boooooo. bad blog today. More pics, more stories, more boats, more dogs, more food. We need more.

Reading about your starbucks episode made me spit out my "no-whip, half-caff, soy, light foam, sugar free vanilla, grande frap with an extra red eye shot"

Nah, I like coffee. Black, hot, coffee.

Block Island as your next stop? I thought you were going to Boston?

I did not get the boat up to Boston as planned at the beginning so we had to cancel Boston and Plymouth. The boat just was not ready and the weather was not good. I could have shortened Nantucket but we like to stay awhile in each spot and not do the "one night here and one night there" thing...

Fair enough....

Carry on!
