Keowee for Labor Day

Bill thanks for the tip about which ramp to use at Keowee Marina. And Bill is right there is plenty of space to park once you splash the boat.

Brian if you'll check the maplink provided by Wes in post #11 look at hwy 133 going down the east side of the lake from hwy11 at the Jocassee dam. It looks like there is a Crow Creek access area but I'm not familiar with it. A few miles further down you'll see Mile Creek. It is a very large state park type of area (it may actually be a state park I cannot remember) with good boat ramps. Access to the park is something like $4 if I recall correctly.

Chuck it will take me over an hour to get there too. I'll be putting in at Gap Hill Landing which is mid lake. It's obvious at least some will be splashing at the south end at the Marina, and Brian will probably end up going in right beside me in midlake at Mile Creek. I don't care where or when - I'll make the effort to meet up. We've got a another week to figure it out but I'm game for whatever works best for everyone else.

Chuck, yes Charley is on Lake Murray, but it looks like we'll miss him again on this trip.

We'll have to plan a trip to Lake Jocassee later on with a little more lead time.

I have to work the labor day weekend.... Wesley do you have my work schedule written down? I promise not to bring my bottle of salt if you stop making events when I work. I am off Monday. Who will be on the water MONDAY when I am off?

I do not know which side of Columbia you are on SD but I doubt it will take you four hours, especially if you are on the Greenville side. I would come up 26 and 276 to the toll road just below Mauldin (185??). Pick up 85 north to the Clemson exit and exit towards Clemson. Go to the end and make a left and continue out that way. Someone else will have to finish the directions as I do not know the rest of the roads.

Oops I should have read that you were from Florence.

Sweet Dreams,

I-26 W to
I-385 N to
I-85 S to
Hwy 76 N (Exit 19B to Clemson) to
Hwy 123 W to
Old Salem Rd. to
Lake Keowee Marina

What toll road pass? Those things cost money! Don't they charge more for the extra trailer axles?

Sweet Dreams, the toll road will save you a little time, but cost you a little money.

Yes they do charge by the axle but you get 10 percent savings with the Plametto Pass. They need all of the revenue they can get to avoid default. User ship is well under the projections and at one point they were in danger of defaulting on the bonds.

What we like about the pass is you only have to slow down to 45 going thru the toll gate as opposed to stopping to pay.

We keep our boat at Keowee Marina, and there is room to park a truck and trailer, but get there early, because of the holiday weekend, the place fills up quickly, you might have to park a long way from the water. We are on Dock D slip 10, stop by for an adult beverage.

Gary

Gary Thanks for the offer:thumbsup: Will do if we make it over.

Bill,

When are you arriving and departing to/from the Dreher?

Bill, are you going to camp out at Lake Murray? I think I PM'd you about how comfortable that is going to be (Or maybe you'd enjoy a trip to a sauna in hell [with mosquitoes]). LOL

Paul I'm sorry to hear you're working (again). I'll still be out Monday but will probably be ready to get the boat out and leave by early afternoon and not in the mood to stretch it out to all day since I will have already been there all weekend.

Gary we'll be sure to look you up.

Charley, we'll be arriving sometime Friday afternoon or evening. Don't really know when yet. We'll be coming down with some friends, and we might have to wait for them to get off work before heading down. We'll be departing Monday by noon.

Gerald, yes it may be hot, but our idea of camping these days is in a 30' air conditioned camper. So on the water during the day, and in the A/C at night isn't that bad. We used to tent camp, but upgraded a few years ago. I wanted to go to Devils Fork, but was overruled by the admiral with reasons I have yet to understand.

Thanks Bill and Paul for the directions. Yes we are from Florence so it is at least a 4 hour pull one way. Just got back from a wk vacation of a 7hr pull one way so trying to justify another trip. But...thats why we got the trailer and there's not a more perfect time to travel than a 3 day weekend and it sounds as if it will be a good gathering.

Our plans are to check out Mile Creek this weekend by truck(thanks Bill!!)and we are open to Sat., Sun., or Mon. We would leave around 8-9ish in the morning and be wet by noon at the latest. Then its time to enjoy the waters and friends.

Any chance we can start a list of who can make it and with boat info. On our lake there is very few SR's, but I can't imagine how many are on Keowee. I wouldn't know who anyone was.LOL

Paige has confirmed that she will not be making the trip however she has also confirmed that I am free to go if I like  Now if I just can get one thing rescheduled I will be good to go for coming down for a day trip on Saturday.
